Senior Product Engineer

Select Star is a data catalog and discovery platform built for modern enterprises. Our platform automatically catalogs & documents database tables and BI dashboards, providing actionable intelligence for our customers in 24 hrs. With Select Star, you can find out where your data is coming from, which dashboards are built on top of it, who is using the data, and how they are using it.

Build & ship features 🚀 This role is for someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and get creative with our core application and take it to the next level. From ideation, through prototyping and delivery we’re looking for someone who can create lasting value for customers and provide it to them in the most engaging way. You’ll be at the forefront of building features and will need to utilize and augment existing features. In addition, there will be mentoring opportunities as you drive design systems, components and frameworks to be used by all Select Star engineers.

• 5+ years of experience of working as a full-stack or front-end developer with React and Typescript

• Experience building out products that include data intensive components/dashboards/BI tools/data visualization tools

• Advanced understanding and hands-on experience with d3.js is a plus

• Experience with Python/Django is a plus

• Self-starter with great communication skills

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and independently

• Experience working with SQL, BI / Analytics tools, and data platform tools is a plus

In the first months, you will get up to speed on Select Star - becoming an expert in all things design and frontend. One of the core features we’re making updates for is ready to have the next version designed and built. It’s the most used feature in our platform today and will be a fantastic first project to push forward. Working closely with the product team and the engineering leads you will design and develop new features and integrations to support our end users. 

Shinji is the CEO for Select Star, an automated data discovery platform that helps you understand your data. Previously, she was the CEO of Concord Systems (concord.io), a NYC-based data infrastructure startup acquired by Akamai Technologies in 2016. 

She led building Akamai’s new IoT data platform for real-time messaging, log processing, and edge computing. Prior to Concord, Shinji was the first Product Manager hired at Yieldmo, where she led the Ad Format Lab, A/B testing, and yield optimization. Before Yieldmo, she was analyzing data and building enterprise applications at Deloitte Consulting, Facebook, Sun Microsystems, and Barclays Capital
