Senior Product Manager

As a Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and success of the platform’s capabilities. From conception to launch, you will be at the forefront of shaping the product roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring our offerings meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers. 

Position Summary: We're looking for an experienced product manager to own and drive strategy and roadmap for the persistence layer of the Appian platform and platform search capabilities. You will maintain and prioritize feature backlogs; define feature scope, acceptance criteria, and metrics; and work with internal constituent groups and customers to understand their enhancement requests, educate them on new features, and assist with implementation decisions. The position is for you if you have deep experience and interest in database management systems and their deployment in a cloud infrastructure.

What you’ll do: Prioritize, define, and ensure success of product features for various users at the roadmap/release level (we release quarterly) as well as functionality within each feature at the sprint level (two week sprints)

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand market demand to generate and get buy-in on product vision and priorities.

• Own the quarterly plan and prioritize the feature backlog for a major product area.

• Collaborate with PMs in related areas to ensure consistency and align deliverables. 

• Operate as the Product Owner within a scrum team to drive execution of the product vision and delivery of high quality features.

• Define how features will work and look through close collaboration with engineers in design sessions and technical reviews that address reliability and scalability.

• Lead delivery of multiple feature iterations for one or more major product areas.

• Demonstrate feature increments at sprint review meetings.

• Collaborate with other roles to ensure product success, including but not limited to marketing, professional services, UX, software engineers, quality engineers, and technical writers.

• Gather product feedback from internal and external sources and track feature adoption to assess impact. 
   

About you:

• You have a strong technical background in data persistence, including familiarity with database management systems, managed data services, persistence frameworks, and/or data warehouses. 

• You enjoy leading and collaborating with others to envision and build high quality product features and experiences that deliver value and delight users.

• You are equally comfortable discussing product strategy and feature details with stakeholders, engineers, and customers. 

• You have experience establishing roadmaps for enterprise software products and leading teams on their delivery.

• You have an ability to empathize with both stakeholders and end users to make the right compromises that can deliver value.

• You have strong convictions based on experience while being open to new ideas and perspectives. 

• You are an accomplished presenter, persuasive writer, effective leader, and keen negotiator with the heart of an engineer. 

Preferred Experience Level: 

• 5+ years of experience working with database management systems in a Product Owner or Product Manager role. 

Education: 

• B.S. in Computer Science or related field
