Senior Product Manager - Compute Automation
Job Description
Build the future of data. Join the Snowflake team.
In 2012 Snowflake started with an innovative virtual warehouse paradigm that provided a platform for high performance analytical queries across very large data sets. Today we are evolving this platform to provide the same scalable foundation across a wider range of workloads, in a simpler and more automated interface. As a Senior Product Manager for Compute Automation, you will be responsible for defining the vision and roadmap for compute automation across analytical and hybrid SQL workloads in the context of an evolution of the Snowflake virtual warehouse. This role digs deep into the challenges of running high-performance SQL workloads at scale, with a key focus on simplicity, ease of use and automation.
AS A SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER, YOU WILL:
- Define and evolve the product vision and direction for virtual compute automation, with a specific focus on analytical (OLAP) and hybrid (HTAP) workloads
- Be laser focussed on simplicity and ease of use
- Collaborate cross functionally across product, engineering, and design stakeholders across a large scope of our product surface area
- Work hand in hand with customers, engaging in frequent conversations both onsite and in customer offices to understand their needs, gather feedback, and overall ensure that product direction is in tune with customer needs
- Be a technical, strong and eloquent advocate for Snowflake’s core query execution platform, both internally and externally, with regular presentations and talks at conferences
- Ship features and improvements frequently and iteratively. You will own getting your product out the door, and you will own making sure it's constantly getting better
OUR IDEAL SENIOR/PRINCIPAL PRODUCT MANAGER WILL:
- Have 8+ years experience in Product Management, preferably in a cloud, B2B or SaaS environment
- Have proven experience defining a product vision and roadmap and managing incremental execution through successful launches
- The ability to work effectively with both technical and business leaders
- Be highly data-driven, knowing how to get, understand, and use data to make the best possible decisions
- Have the ability to seek and identify opportunities to leverage technical and technology strengths, or define optimal product outcomes within technical constraints
- Excellent communication skills and a proven track record with deep customer engagements, hands-on execution and timely delivery
BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
- Passionate about user experience, and the value of simplicity
- Familiarity with SQL and general database concepts (stored procedures, sharding, indexes, keys)
- Familiarity with Data Science and/or Data Engineering personas (you know what a panda is)
- Be just as comfortable in a deep technical conversation as you are in a discussion about strategy, pricing, marketing or go-to-market
Every Snowflake employee is expected to follow the company’s confidentiality and security standards for handling sensitive data. Snowflake employees must abide by the company’s data security plan as an essential part of their duties. It is every employee's duty to keep customer information secure and confidential.
