Senior Product Manager - Infrastructure Platform - REMOTE
Job Description
To manage our level of scale, C.H. Robinson employs small, autonomous software development teams that own the full software development cycle, all the way from idea to production. This rapid iteration is the lifeblood leading to the greatest possible customer impact. To accomplish this feat, development teams must have access to a vast collection of self-service infrastructure components that provide just the right level of support. That's where you come in.
You will help build out our new, enterprise-wide infrastructure platform by overseeing the efforts and offerings of our CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) platform teams. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the software design philosophy of a Fortune 200 company. The right candidate will be a systems thinker who obsesses over delivering the best experience for our developers, customers, and carriers. As a Senior Product Manager - Infrastructure Platform, you will work cross functionally to drive clarity around business goals and work backwards from those goals to solve problems and inform marketplace technology investments. Solutions and decisions will be shaped by curiosity and rigorous analysis and research - both qualitative and quantitative.
C.H. Robinson recognizes the importance of workplace flexibility. We are committed to providing a remote-friendly work environment, both now and in the future. Our global technology teams will continue to have the flexibility that enables you to work where you are most effective, whether that be remote or in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct strategic research and analysis to identify, develop, test/validate and implement short-, medium- and long-term product strategies that help to achieve the end vision of self-serve DevOps and IaC offerings
- Synthesize data and insights from your technical partners into clear recommendations/proposals to inform strategic and tactical priorities to a wide range of audiences
- Write logical, data and fact-based documents to gain alignment from cross functional stakeholders to inform technology and process change investments/priorities that results in buy-in both internally and externally from key partners
- Effectively debate and defend fact-based proposals that may be unpopular or challenge conventional wisdom
- Develop detailed requirements, metrics analysis and user stories that can be used in partnering with engineering counterparts in the development of each product and application
- Identify and manage program blocking issues, provide escalation management, anticipate, and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical or operational constraints
- Drive effective teamwork, collaboration, and alignment across teams
- Navigate an ambiguous environment, from a strategic and tactical perspective, where the product management function is still maturing
- Full product life cycle ownership
Required Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of digital Product Management and/or related experience (software engineer, SRE, etc)
- Experience in launching large, scalable, enterprise level products
- Experience managing day-to-day project/program communications to a broad stakeholder group and contributing to senior executive management reports and business presentations
- Experience writing both long- and short- term product planning reports, including strategic market analysis, product proposals, and financial/business reporting
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and high school diploma/GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Values a diverse and inclusive work environment
- A learning and growth mindset that is open to giving and receiving feedback and coaching others to do the same
- Multiple years of digital marketplace dynamics/mechanics experience in product or data science capacity
- Executive level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to assess audiences and adjust content, style, and approach to meet their needs
- Advanced degree (Masters, PhD) in a quantitative discipline
Questioning if you meet the mark? Studies have shown that women and people of color may be less likely to apply unless they match the job description exactly. Here at C.H. Robinson, we're building a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel they belong. If this position excites you, we welcome you to apply whether you check all the preferred qualifications or just a few. You may just be our next great fit!
