Hearst E-commerce is a newly formed organization focused on developing and supporting E-Commerce across Hearst's consumer media portfolio. Our goal is to make it easier to buy all the goods and services our thousands of journalists research every day. We work across a range of focus areas, including building and operating marketplaces, creating performance advertising tools, to helping develop editorial tools to simplify content creation workflows. This breadth helps give our team unique perspectives into the needs of Hearst's reader and viewership across the globe.

As a member of the larger Hearst community, our team is focused on developing a supportive, inclusive culture, and giving back to our communities. Hearst employees have access to extensive training and development opportunities, ranging from robust internship, mentorship, and sponsorship programs to unique opportunities to partner with emerging women-led startups in media, technology and data funded through HearstLab, one of our venture investment groups. Our community support includes the Hearst Foundation, which has overseen more than $1.3 billion in grants to build healthy, productive, and inspiring opportunities, to our corporate donation matching.

Your Impact

At Hearst, we're committed to revolutionizing the e-commerce landscape. As the Senior Product Manager for Post-Checkout Experiences, you'll be at the forefront of driving innovative strategies and roadmaps to elevate the post-checkout journey for both our valued customers and sellers. This is your chance to join a dynamic team and shape the future of e-commerce in collaboration with top-tier product, design, and engineering professionals.

In this pivotal role, you'll orchestrate seamless post-checkout experiences that encompass delivery, returns, and customer service. Collaborating across departments, you'll contribute to building a world-class post-checkout ecosystem that fosters trust, engagement, and satisfaction. A strategic thinker and an execution champion, you're adept at translating vision into tangible results and possess a solid background in enhancing e-commerce functionality to elevate user experiences.

If you're interested in a startup environment with an opportunity to define new customer experiences in support of our many Hearst media brands, then this may be the role for you.

Your Responsibilities

  • Define and implement best practices for shipping, returns, and customer service within Hearst e-commerce marketplaces.
  • Collaborate closely with business teams to craft experiences that harmonize user satisfaction with long-term financial objectives.
  • Establish feedback loops to foster trust between Hearst e-commerce and users (sellers and customers).
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive repository of high-level documentation for internal reference.
  • Lead agile execution, manage dependencies, facilitate smart trade-offs, and ensure transparent communication for seamless product delivery.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the post-checkout shopping ecosystem, catering to the needs of both sellers and customers across shipping, returns, customer service, and fraud prevention.
  • Craft a visionary roadmap that augments both shopper and seller experiences, driving retention and engagement across Hearst e-commerce marketplaces.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics, Marketing, Seller Recruiting, and the broader Hearst magazines organization to deliver roadmap features on time and within budget.
  • Cultivate productive partnerships with external partners and vendors to enhance SAAS platform capabilities, thus elevating seller and customer experiences within Hearst Magazines' marketplaces.
  • Leverage operational metrics to create insightful reporting and analytics that quantify opportunities for better experiences, ultimately boosting retention and engagement.

About You

No two projects are alike, nor are two candidates. The following experiences are common within your peer group, but not strict requirements. We encourage all candidates with some applicable qualifications to apply.

  • Proven years of experience in a product management role within a consumer-focused or e-commerce company, with a specific focus on consumer or seller-facing experiences.
  • Strong product and user orientation, aligning features with user needs when communicating product value.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with persuasive presentation and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in data analysis and quantitative skills, using metrics to substantiate assumptions, recommendations, and drive business outcomes.
  • Skilled collaborator with cross-functional aptitude, building credibility with stakeholders, and efficiently partnering with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multitasking, efficiently managing multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • Innovative problem solver, adept at quick decision-making and creative thinking in dynamic and uncertain environments.
  • Track record of building, executing, and scaling cross-functional programs from concept to realization.
  • Strategic thinker who can navigate both macro and micro aspects, providing both high-level vision and detailed guidance.
  • Preferred experience in product management focused on shipping, delivery, returns, fraud prevention, and payments, with added experience in 3rd party SAAS solution partnerships to enhance e-commerce shopping experiences.
  • Experience building impactful products with direct operational implications, coordinating with operational teams to ensure optimal execution and go-to-market rollouts.
