This role sits at the heart of a complex, mission-critical billing domain where accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity converge into a single customer-facing outcome: the energy bill. You will own the strategy and roadmap for billing within a modern SaaS platform supporting energy retailers undergoing rapid transformation. Working in a highly cross-functional environment, you will collaborate with engineering, market operations, metering, and commercial teams to ensure seamless data flows from upstream systems into precise billing outputs. The role combines deep product ownership with financial systems thinking, requiring strong judgment in balancing regulatory constraints, customer needs, and scalability. You will also help shape how emerging energy models such as flexible tariffs and prosumer markets are reflected in billing logic. This is a high-impact position where your work directly influences customer trust, operational efficiency, and commercial performance.

You will define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the billing domain, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant invoicing across complex energy use cases. You will translate regulatory, commercial, and operational requirements into clear product direction while ensuring alignment across multiple stakeholders and systems.

• Own the end-to-end billing product strategy, including calculations, adjustments, and evolving revenue models such as flexible energy tariffs
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure upstream data (metering, tariffs, settlements) flows correctly into billing outputs
• Lead responses to regulatory and industry changes impacting billing processes and compliance requirements
• Identify opportunities for AI, automation, and data-driven improvements to reduce billing errors and manual intervention
• Maintain and prioritise a clear, outcome-driven backlog aligned with engineering delivery and business goals
• Ensure billing supports SLAs, audits, regulatory reporting, and customer satisfaction targets
• Drive collaboration across product domains to minimise upstream data quality issues affecting billing accuracy

Requirements

You bring strong product management experience within complex, data-heavy, or financial systems environments, with a clear ability to operate at the intersection of technology, finance, and operations. You are comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and translating ambiguity into structured product direction.

• Proven experience in product management owning complex, financially critical domains such as billing, invoicing, or revenue systems
• Strong understanding of financial workflows including reconciliation, adjustments, credit handling, and audit requirements
• Familiarity with ERP or financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics or similar) and invoice lifecycle management
• Experience working across multiple upstream systems to ensure downstream data integrity and accuracy
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging enterprise clients and senior leadership
• Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics and AI tools to guide product decisions
• Experience in regulated or complex industries (energy, fintech, utilities, or similar SaaS environments) is highly valuable
• Understanding of energy industry mechanisms (e.g., smart metering, flexible tariffs, settlement processes) is a plus
• Strong communication, prioritisation, and systems-thinking capabilities
