Since 1987, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) has set the standard in certification, continuing education, solutions and tools for health and fitness, sports performance and sports medicine professionals. NASM has pioneered evidence-based health and fitness solutions that optimize physical performance and allow individuals to achieve a variety of fitness activity goals.

Overview:

NASM is currently hiring a Senior Product Marketing Manager, primarily to support the fast-growing Academic Channel. This role is responsible for driving market and brand awareness, lead generation for new and existing products by developing marketing programs and effectively communicating the value proposition of our products to current and potential customers in the academic channel. From partnering with the product managers on the market need and business case, to understanding the competitive landscape, differentiators and positioning, the Senior Product Marketing Manager plays a leading role in crafting the product's story through impactful messaging strategy, campaigns, naming, and positioning. This person will work closely with the product, sales leadership and operations teams to ensure a seamless delivery of products to our customers across all communication platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the awareness-generating efforts, lead generation, and marketing programs to achieve revenue goals for the Academic Channel.
  • Drive the adoption of our product portfolio among new and existing customers.
  • Create highly effective go-to-market launch strategies and programs for new products and propose marketing campaigns and cross-promotional strategies for other key existing core products across various stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Drive the creation of messaging and keywords to effectively communicate to target audiences in partnership with extended marketing team.
  • Effectively and regularly collaborate with cross-functional core team to align on and propose marketing plans, providing updates on progress and key metrics to leadership; identify and drive creation of KPIs and other required deliverables and hit project milestones to enable sales team to be successful.
  • Educate both internal and external stakeholders on our products' features, benefits, positioning and differentiators to create and deliver meaningful training and tools for sales and service.
  • Serve as the marketing liaison with Product, Sales, Operations and Digital Marketing teams on launch planning and deliverables specific to marketing.
  • Work closely with external partners, as necessary, on messaging strategies, go-to-market tactics, naming/trademark, and design needs.
  • Serve as brand evangelist for our products through thought leadership ideation, public relations outreach, blogging, social media post creation, highlighting product value, subject matter experts, research insights, or other supporting content.
  • Develop an intimate understanding of our brand message and tone to accurately capture our persona in all communications.
  • Work closely with BU leaders, marketing teammates, and other departments to create effective marketing and communications strategies that articulate our products' core benefits properly and consistently, cross-promoting with other similar products whenever possible in digital and traditional marketing tactics.
  • Propose plan for generating product awareness at events and tradeshows; Attend relevant industry events and tradeshows, as needed, to evangelize on behalf of our products alongside our sales, marketing and product teams pre, during and post launch of products.
  • Measure and optimize the buyer journey as it relates to product feature adoption and usage.
  • Lead selective research projects, overseeing agencies and research partners as needed
  • Responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed and must be available for occasional support outside of business hours.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications or related field required, MBA a plus
  • 5+ years of marketing product management, or similar experience.
  • Possess a mix of business, product launch, marketing creativity, operational experience, project management and communication/collaboration skills.
  • Pragmatic Marketing training and experience a plus.
  • Experience in marketing to Academic Institutions a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to create and drive effective messaging and marketing plans across various stages of product lifecycle to generate awareness and demand to reach revenue goals.
  • Excellent ability to write and apply copy in a variety of forms; some outside support available to supplement.
  • Articulate communicator who can present to various levels of management, co-workers and peers as well as train on key messaging and value proposition.
  • Outcome-driven with ability to effectively manage multiple product plans and priorities in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change and manage fast and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to lead/co-lead and communicate cross-functionally across operations, sales, product, and marketing.
  • Exceptional team player with a positive, "can do" attitude.
  • Highly resourceful and able to work with minimal direction and guidance at times.
  • Work effectively across functions and departments to bring products to life, constantly interacting and inspiring teammates and functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions for complex issues.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
