The Senior Product Owner - FHIR drives realization of the FHIR Product Roadmap for the Availity Clinical Solutions Product Team. As one of the key leaders in product development, you will work with the Product Manager to represent the voice of the customer and the vision of the product throughout the product development process and present these to the engineering team. You are responsible for working with key stakeholders from across the company to bring a voice and story to the customer feature requests, new product features, and technical features that the team will develop. You will help prioritize feature development for each product release.

Holding the ultimate accountability for the product definition that best meets the needs of our customers and our business, you will bring your strong leadership and organizational skills to bear to maintain a steady release plan for the solution. Recognizing the limitations of resources and time, you will be responsible for accepting and rejecting work at the appropriate interval during each development sprint. You will order and manage the backlog of user stories and product defects to ensure that the work defined for the team is meaningful to the customer yet realistic and attainable for the development teams.

To be qualified for this position, you:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, Business, IT or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Have 3+ years of experience in a Product Owner role.
  • Have 3+ years of experience with Agile, Scrum, SaFe.
  • Have experience in healthcare related settings.
  • Have demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to accurately analyze information and make sound decisions.
  • Have ability to take the initiative and accountability for achieving results.
  • Have strong communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Have strong leadership skills and ability to listen, communicate and motivate teams to achieve results.
  • Have flexibility to partner with and negotiate with various personality types at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Have experience in technical product ownership for products with APIs.

What will set you apart:

  • You have deep experience working with FHIR and the FHIR specification. This is a requirement for the role.
  • You have working knowledge of any healthcare data standards: CDA, IHE Profiles, FHIR or other standards.

What Success Looks Like:

After three months:

  • Work with the scrum team to break down requirements, obtain estimates, and maintain a healthy backlog of work that is ready for sprint planning.
  • An ability to advocate for and manage the value of the product release.
  • Triage incoming product enhancement requests and investigations.
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of user stories and product defects based on business value.
  • Lead and communicate the release plan.
  • Approve sprint work ensuring sprint objectives are met.

After six months:

  • Possess a working understanding of Fusion's suite of FHIR capabilities.
  • Detailed understanding of customer needs as it relates to the product backlog.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts to understand the operating context for the product you are leading.
  • Work closely with engineering and operation teams to identify and mitigate blockers and dependencies.
  • Work with Support, Implementation, and Client Services to manage escalations from client reported issues.
  • Lead the refinement process to ensure shared understanding with engineering team.
  • Serve as the liaison between the development team and internal and external stakeholders.

After twelve months:

  • Work with the larger organization to communicate and make tradeoffs to meet corporate objectives.
  • Work with Product Managers to understand and validate customer needs and understand Product Vision
  • Work with Product Managers to curate and publish roadmaps.

Travel:

  • Required Travel less than 10% for company onsite collaboration and client engagements.
