The Product Owner serves is a finance process expert who partner with the stakeholders, including customers, business leaders, architects to define efficient solutions that are easy to implement and maintain in our tools (NetSuite, Avalara) They are the voice of the customer and are responsible for ensuring that the development team builds a product that meets the customer's needs and delivers business value.
The IT Product Owner is the liaison between the end user and technical team, and requires both technical capabilities along with the ability to be analytical.
This position is aligned to our Finance organization and is focused on technology initiatives regarding the overall Order to Cash processes in both the Finance and Go-to-Market spaces.
This person will ensure that we implement and operate best in class processes for these areas, using out of the box best in class SaaS platforms and they will be the champion that can align the business with easier ways to operate, design and build those processes using our SaaS solutions.
Our IT Product Owner understands the end-user needs and creates user stories for the architects and developers to build.
The role will oversee the development phases from inception to delivery by deeply understanding the business requirements, prioritizing the work for the architects and developers, managing the backlog, and evaluating the progress throughout.
What You'll Do:
- Be responsible for delivering a system configured to the customer requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between Internal IT and various business units, able to gain alignment from cross functional stakeholders to proposed designs.
- Proactively identify opportunities to leverage technology for business process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate with business leaders to understand their objectives, challenges, and technology requirements.
- Define and document detailed technical requirements in collaboration with architecture, aligned to project goals based on user feedback, that results in comprehensive functional specifications.
- Ensure alignment to and approval of documented business objectives and requirements and translate approved project requirements into appropriate scoping documents.
- Work with the IT and business led project management offices on timelines, milestones, other relevant project elements to set, manage, and deliver against business expectations.
- Plan, manage, and prioritize product feature backlog and development phases. Oversee development stages and evaluate progress at each iteration. Provide feedback to the customer and development teams.
- Ability to assume Project Management duties for initiatives, as may be warranted.
- Facilitate change management processes, ensuring smooth adoption of new technologies within the organization.
- Work with Technology Business Partners and business leads to identify and develop plans to document and capture value created by IT projects.
- Propose innovative solutions to address challenges and opportunities.
What You'll Bring:
- 7+ years of business process improvement experience
- 3+ years of experience leading finance transformation initiatives in SaaS or other technology organizations with particular emphasis on order-to-cash initiatives (subscription billing, revenue recognition, AR/collections management, billing contact data management, credit card/direct debit transaction handling, and overall improvements to SFDC and NetSuite order management and processes).
- Background in accounting, revenue operations, FP&A or other finance discipline(s)
- Experience in NetSuite and Salesforce
- The IT order-to-cash Product Owner will have deep understanding of the key platforms and industry knowledge on efficient ways they can be used to enable the business.
- Be familiar and experienced with best-in-class order-to-cash process as used in the software industry.
- Experienced in data analysis leveraging Excel, Power BI, Tableau or other tools to support reviews of existing processes and identification of improvement opportunities.
- Procure-to-pay and record-to-report experience a plus.
- Track record of successfully working cross-functionally across all business areas to gain agreement on target initiatives/projects, prioritization, strategy, and objectives.
- Experienced running agile sprints.
- Consulting experience a plus
- Able to identify and remediate prior customizations and complex processes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Able to make quick yet reliable design decisions resulting in efficient easy to maintain software.
