Job Summary

The Senior Product Specialist has the primary responsibility to support the strategic initiatives of the global Specialty Engineered Materials business in order to drive profitable revenue growth.

The individual will be responsible for leading the coordination of new product development and commercialization at the customer in close collaboration with sales, technology and engineering. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve product portfolio profitability.

The individual will have ownership for the pricing, cost management and resulting profitability of the product lines for the Specialty Engineered Materials business. The incumbent will be trained in lean six sigma practices, profitability analysis, business development and general marketing skills to allow for future role expansion and promotion within the marketing organization. The skills include project management, stage gate management, P&L analysis, data management and analysis, marketing communications tools and content development, etc. The Senior Product Specialist role is part of the Marketing career development path towards Product Manager within the Marketing organization.

Essential Functions

• Oversees the development and introduction of new products with sales, technology, manufacturing, and marketing.

• Manages the pricing, commercial and promotional aspects of sales growth opportunities

• Ensures customer and Avient sales personnel receive continuous technical support in the form of up-to-date product application technology, training, and problem solving.

• Manages a product portfolio and drives improvement to increase profitability

• Reviews and supports growth opportunities and key projects for the business and articulates customer needs to the management team

• Works closely with sourcing and suppliers to review and drive innovation and improvement actions based on raw material trends

• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marketing, Finance or Technical discipline (e.g., chemistry, (industrial) engineering)

• Between 1-2 years of relevant job experience

• High level of self-initiative, drive and willingness to learn and be challenged

• Ability to function effectively within a global, matrix organization and communicate at different levels within the organization

• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint)
