Job Summary
The Sr Program Finance Manager provides leadership in all areas of program analytics, financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities for The Aerospace Corporation. Specific responsibilities include direct delivery analysis, government customer interaction, tracking of funding, annual and multi-year budgeting, development of financial forecasts and planning scenarios, development and implementation of financial and operational metrics, dashboards, and capital expenditure planning. This position is responsible for improvements in financial and business processes as prescribed by the Defense Systems Group (DSG) CFO. This position serves as a trusted financial advisor to the division, providing the financial data, trends analysis, and predictive analytics the corporation needs to deliver its value proposition to customers and to meet its goals. This position works closely with DSG CFO to ensure a consistent vision and implementation of financial policies, practices, and processes throughout the Company.
Work Model: Hybrid, El Segundo, CA campus location (approximately 3 day per week on campus)
What You'll Be Doing
  • Leadership and management of the financials for the largest customer facing division within the company. Key member of the DSG financial leadership team.
  • Integral member of the organization and corporate management teams; key business advisor to senior executives and organization managers; significant contributor in the development of administrative strategic plans and business-related processes; implements near-term and long-range strategies
  • Responsible for establishing standard corporate program planning & control (PP&C) processes to facilitate organizational and corporate level management; provides leadership in the development of policies and procedures; develops Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) tied to Enterprise STE (staff years of technical effort) and financial goals
  • Serves as the primary business and administrative interface with senior level customers; maintains excellent working relationships with customer counterpart(s) to identify and secure STE allocation(s) and funding
  • Implements corporate standard PP&C processes, tools, and cadence within cognizant organization, optimizing compliance and efficiency; directs development and maintenance of cost and schedule baselines and forecasts that meet the program and company requirements and are integrated with the program Statement of Work (SOW) as included in the Aerospace Requirements Tool (ART), and other program planning documents
  • Develops and manages delivery (STE) and financial plans and forecasts for direct and indirect funded activities at the organization level; tracks and performs analyses for various budgets; and maintains organizational statistics
  • Compares and analyzes STE and financial results with plans and forecasts; identifies trends, assesses and communicates reliable metrics that management can use to make informed business decisions. Uses data-driven insights to recommend corrective actions to achieve STE and financial plans
  • Lead strategic projects at the group and corporate level
  • Informs Group CFO and General Managers on financial trends, reporting unit performance and recommend corrective actions to achieve financial plans
  • Compares and analyzes financial results with plans and forecasts, identifies trends, assess and communicate reliable metrics that management can use to make informed business decisions.
  • Makes or recommends value-informed purchasing, investing, and hiring decisions on behalf of the General Manager or Vice President
  • Manages direct reports

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • Ten or more years of experience in financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Direct experience managing teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Advanced degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field
  • Possess CPA designation
  • Two or more years of experience in a US government Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) contracting environment
  • Experience with baseline planning and scheduling, forecasting, and estimating, and/or cost/schedule integration techniques
  • Knowledge of governmental and government contractor budgeting systems and practices
  • Knowledge of cost accounting standards (CAS)

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
