We are looking for an outstanding Senior Leader that can help create and drive a Program Management function across all Epirus closed sales. This role will report to the Vice President – Customer Success. The ideal candidate needs to have 20+ years of management experience in the defense industry and have a firm command of creating and driving a Program Management function. Initially, the Director will establish the direction for the Program Management function and create a foundation for any new program managers hired in the future. The ideal candidate will be able to work across multiple functions & organizations to ensure the customers’ needs and interests are being met to ensure a successful product lifecycle experience. Organizations that will need traversed include Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance and Customer Success. As important, experience working across multiple military organizations of the United States Department of Defense is critical to the success of this role. Understanding the nuances of new programs created by the various military organizations including technology & contract solicitation, program start-up, program planning, & program executions is essential to the success of the candidate in this role. A firm understanding of DOD acquisition process is essential to the success of this role along with the ability to establish logical process that can scale with the customer base as the company grows. Experience with high tech manufacturer of hardware systems that are shipped CONUS and OCONUS is essential to this role.
Duties:
- Responsible for the performance of a significant program or multiple programs in accordance with contract requirements and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. The program area typically represents many functional areas. You will also be responsible for acquiring follow-on business associated with assigned programs and for supporting new business development by through collaborative efforts on all additional proposals.
- Attend weekly Business Development, Product Management, & select Engineering & Customer Success meetings to track and understand the impact of production & hardware/software release schedules as well as site surveys, site deployments, training & enablement & any support issues that may impact current or future business.
- Work closely with the BD Acct Directors to ensure alignment with overall business strategy, senior stakeholder engagements are coordinated, and acct specific objectives are met on time and on target.
- Responsible for complex program management tasks and development of standards and processes for scheduling, administration, and accounting
- Defines, acquires, and allocates budget, staff, and other resources necessary to accomplish the goals and/or objective of the program group/function
- Exercises judgment and delegated authority for planning, directing, coordinating, administering, and executing many routine and complex projects/programs
- Must be willing to step in on the customers behalf during any extended challenges with the product solution should they arise and attend executive level escalation calls to help advocate for timely resolution.
- Must be able & willing to recruit & manage additional Program Managers hired as the company grows and additional resources are required.
- Must have necessary security clearances and be able to maintain such for any required program access
- Must be willing to accept immunizations as a condition prior to travel to customer locations and be able to wear any customer required uniform and/or working attire
- Must be a US Citizen. This position requires special access to information and must have a Secret Security Clearance
- Bachelor or Master's Degree in Technology field Preferred (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 20+ years related experience.
- Extensive background in strategic planning, competitive assessments, and bidding/acquisition of multi-million dollar contracts
- Experience in working with the Defense and Aerospace customer community and in serving as a principal point of contact to key military and commercial customers
- Management leadership of annual multi-million dollar budget
- Strong interpersonal skills especially in team building/maintenance and customer relationships
- Technical and program leadership experience and familiarity with the directed energy & weapon systems industry and integrated systems development are required
- The candidate will contribute to weekly and monthly strategic planning, plan execution and technology roadmap updates.
- The candidate must be able to keep team members focused on schedule milestones and objectives and must motivate team members to develop cost effective, customer-oriented solutions and approaches.
- Able to lead by action and example.
- Must be able to act independently and make decisions on administrative / operational issues affecting the success of this organization.
- MBA is desirable
- The candidate should have experience with customer communications, negotiations, and proposal management
