This individual will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex and strategic projects. The senior program manager is responsible for aligning the project goals with the business objectives, managing the project budget and resources, ensuring the quality and timeliness of the project outcomes, and communicating effectively with all the stakeholders involved. In this role, one will also provide analytical support and manage program analysis and prepare claims analysis to present to ensure effective execution of best practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Define the scope, objectives, and deliverables of the project, and ensure they are aligned with the strategic vision and priorities of Markel.
- Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, and track the progress, risks, issues, and dependencies of the project.
- Manage the project budget and resources, and ensure they are allocated and utilized efficiently and effectively.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the project team, sponsors, stakeholders, and vendors, and provide regular updates and reports on the project status and performance
- Ensure the quality and timeliness of the project deliverables, and adhere to the project governance and standards of Markel.
- Facilitate the project closure and evaluation, and document the lessons learned and best practices for future projects.
- Present to senior management on key indicators, metrics, and drivers that impact the attainment of business goals.
- Applies the appropriate methodology to the project based on complexity, number of integration points and length of the project allowing for phases to be measured against expectations. Selecting the right methodology supports knowing what to measure and how it should be measured and managed to meet business goals.
- Effectively communicate at all levels of the project team: Sponsors and key stakeholders are aware of status, risks & Issues, impact of changes and key decisions. Downstream customers are informed and consulted prior to decisions being made. Ability to influence and mediate challenging conversations and decisions.
Education
A bachelor's degree or higher in business, management, or a related field.
Certification
A certification in project or program management, such as PMP, PgMP, or PRINCE2.
Work Experience/Skill Set
- At least 10 years of experience in project or program management, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and the ability to handle complex and ambiguous situations.
- Proficient in project management tools and software, such as MS Project, Jira, or Smartsheet. • Knowledge of the insurance or financial services industry, and the regulatory and compliance requirements.

Pay information:
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the Sr. Program Manager position is $100,000 - $140,000 with a 35% bonus potential.
