Position Overview:

  • Collaborating with the Associate Director, PMO, this role will be supporting the Infusion Preparation and Delivery (IPD) Business within Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS).
  • The Senior Program Manager will provide leadership and oversight of complex multi-functional team(s) within a matrix organization that spans across the business Medication Management Solutions (MMS) and MDS and external to BD.
  • This role will be responsible for clear reporting of program status to the Platform and delivery of key turning points that lead to a successful launch of products.
  • Complete understanding of a wide application of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Including but not limited, customer scope requirements, work breakdown structures, risk management, integrated business plans, and product requirements.
  • Serving as an agile problem solver, master negotiator, motivational coach, product development process authority, prudent adventurous person, and team champion.
  • Influences solutions and works to resolve business and/or technical problems at all levels of the organization.
  • A strong, influential communicator who implements the strategic and technical direction for the project/program team.
  • Finds and creates new avenues of excellence. Self-starting and will take action without prompting or direction from others to solve problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-functional global team comprising of product development, quality, regulatory, clinical, manufacturing, and marketing to develop, communicate, and measure progress against goals and metrics for program success.
  • Be responsible for all aspects of product development from the earliest definition of the product concept through commercialization in all global markets.
  • Lead project and product cost against budget; reports and advises on recovery plans vital to achieve budget targets.
  • Has technical and practical knowledge of the core Program Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOKยฎ) concepts and principles (e.g., Agile, work breakdown structure, identification of critical path, waterfall planning)
  • Ability to establish relationships quickly with a broad range of constituents. Must possess a collaborative style to work optimally throughout the organization. Able to work with people in such a manner as to build high morale and group commitment to goals and objectives.
  • Interface closely with functional leaders at all levels in the organization
  • Coordinate with leaders of manufacturing to plan and implement transfer of products from design to production.
  • Exercise performance management of all team members in agreement with respective functional managers
  • Demonstrate resourceful application through understanding of Program Management and its impact to business
  • Able to take action in solving problems and making decisions while showing good judgment and a realistic understanding of issues, able to use reason, even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Clear understanding of how to assimilate large amounts of information/data into understandable and concise presentations

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or Electrical Engineering degree required.
  • An advanced degree in an engineering field is preferred.
  • Certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) is preferred.
  • Seven years experience in product development leadership in the surgical, disposable medical products or related industries.
  • Experience leading large cross-functional teams (with multi-organizational team members) is required
  • Technical knowledge and communication proficiency to engage with external customers and suppliers.
  • Good verbal and written communication with all levels of division and corporate leadership.
  • Understands documentation requirements per ISO13485/FDA QSR quality systems.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Applications.

Critical Skills and Competencies:

  • Successful track record of commercializing new products
  • Experience in new product development planning multiple work-streams, identifying risk and implementing action plans to optimize timelines and reduce execution risk
  • Experience establishing customer requirements from defined needs specifications and translating to product requirements
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations and FDA submissions
