Job Description
Alarm.com is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Hardware) to help lead a cross functional team of technical experts to help drive Alarm.com's product development forward. If you have a B.A., B.S., or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering background as well as experience in IoT and multimedia, specifically with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and video augmented by AI products – we want to hear from you! The Senior Project Engineer position is ideal for candidates that want to make an immediate impact on the exciting and rapidly evolving Internet of Things space and work with leading edge innovative Intellectual Property that both exists but often leads to new patents. Â
WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ALARM.COM?Â
- Lead a cross functional technical team of Hardware, Software, and Mechanical Engineers to guide products from conception to launch
- In collaboration with the product manager, be responsible for maintaining an end-to-end functional Gantt chart for multiple projects
- Lead daily cross functional project meetings and report out on project status to stakeholders
- Define and measure project milestones, effectively prioritize deliverables, and manage cross-project dependencies to meet delivery goals
- Work across product teams within the organization to stay in sync on product development schedules and priorities
- Manage certification processes including coordination with manufacturing partners, outside labs or internal testing resources
- Anticipates blockers/delays and balances against team priorities.
- Recognize areas for internal improvement by developing and deploying strategies for optimization
- Accountable for all day-to-day technical leadership at any point in a project's lifecycle
- Align teams across the product and technology organization around design trade-offs, requirements, manufacturing, test, release, and validation plans for successful on-time launches
- Identify and control project risk and provide independent risk evaluations/assessments and risks balancing guidance
WHAT DO YOU NEED?Â
- MS or BS/BA of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a similar technical discipline; or equivalent demonstrable experience is required
- Technical background (e.g. hardware development) with advanced knowledge of iOT products – preferably camerasÂ
- 10+ years of experience which should include – experience in electrical hardware engineering roles and demonstrated experience leading engineering project teams from concept through manufacturing phases Â
- Extensive experience launching hardware products
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and mentoring engineers
- Ability to drive cross-functional teams and technical discussions/design reviews
- Be hands-on and wear multiple hats during R&D and prototype phases
