Senior Project Leader for Modeling and Simulation Cloud Computing Architectures

Job Summary
The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.
The Modeling and Simulation Computing Department (MSCD) consists of a team dedicated to ground-breaking software solutions and capabilities for government and commercial customer needs. We enable detailed and complex modeling, analysis, optimization, and visualization of satellite orbits, system architectures, and engineering trade-spaces to provide customer decision support for the future of space.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide overall leadership on critical capabilities and/or business lines at department, subdivision, and higher levels; specifically, lead the subdivision's effort to transition major software workflows for cloud computing on internal and external compute resources (for example, AWS)
- Lead and coordinate teams of advanced or senior technical specialists across the company in meeting customer needs and expanding corporate capabilities including the development of an ecosystem of key microservices to facilitate a transition of subdivision capabilities for digital engineering
- Lead business development activities with subdivision and customer management to identify growth opportunities, mitigate potential resource weaknesses, develop funding lines, and other critical project management tasks
- Act as a subdivision senior liaison, providing proactive coordination and consultation to customers and Aerospace staff across the company
- Initiate and conduct efforts to grow and sustain the subdivision's modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities to support new and existing functional areas including digital engineering and cloud computing, applying leadership and coordination across multi-disciplinary technical leaders, Aerospace Program Office personnel, and external customers
- Partner with subdivision analysis leads to exercise influence on key stakeholders and government customers by leading customer engagement efforts on the transition to cloud computing for a range of modeling and simulation workflows within the subdivision
- Establish and maintain effective and enduring working relationships with key organizational customers
- Support workforce development through strategic planning with department and subdivision management, resource acquisition, recruiting, training, and mentoring.
- Lead the conversion to cloud computing for major subdivision software efforts in close coordination with analysis leads, working to secure funding to facilitate these transitions
- Develop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate software development progress and provide recommended design solutions to technical leads, management, and customers
- Engage with software users and customers to refine capability requirements
- Conduct cloud software architecture design and lead the integration of new workflows within a cloud computing environment to meet customer needs
- Travel as necessary to support customer efforts
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines from an accredited university
- 12 years related experience
- Extensive history of progressively responsible professional experience in leading and contributing to modeling and simulation software development, successfully demonstrated across numerous substantial customer-driven projects, to include:
- Designing modern software architectures for cloud computing applications
- Deploying cloud-based applications on Aerospace or external resources (for example, AWS)
- Leveraging software configuration management and collaboration tools in team environments
- Communicating effectively through technical writing and presentations
- Delivering timely products for complex team projects
- Demonstrating strong leadership skills and rapport with customers and teammates
- Developing technical expertise, including mentoring and workforce development
- Proficiency in one or more of the organization's core computer languages (e.g., C++, Python, Fortran, Matlab, etc.)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance

- Graduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other STEM-related discipline from an accredited university
- Experience with Aerospace customers and industry players
- Experience in space-related modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Current TS/SCI security clearance
We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$123,000 - $168,750 - $214,500
Pay Basis: Annual
