Your Opportunity

Stantec Consulting Services Inc. seeks a Senior Civil Works Engineer/Project Manager in the rapidly growing Coastal and Flood Protection Engineering Practice at its practice located in Louisiana. The Louisiana Team leads and supports a wide variety of large civil works and water resource projects in the Gulf Region and across the US. Team members are expected to be able to lead a team, develop clients, mange large civil works projects and contribute technically in several areas of engineering. Your experience and expertise should be in at least one of the following areas.

  • Large Civil Works Projects
  • Flood Mitigation Projects
  • Natural Hazards and Coastal Risk
  • Design and Analysis of Coastal Structures and Waterways
  • Coastal Management, Environmental Restoration, and Enhancement

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage key client relationships and bring in new clients
  • Oversee and delivering various Programs / Projects within the Water sector.
  • Supervise the work of others within the project team and supervise staff on your projects
  • Lead and support the business in decision making such as overall strategic direction, goal setting, identifying clients, market challenges and opportunities
  • Track project performance, from both a client and Stantec perspective. This includes cost, schedule and quality performance requirements
  • Support and mentor others within the group
  • Participate in marketing initiatives and lead project pursuits
  • Collaborating across Stantec's business lines
  • Work closely with our design team for large civil work project delivery
  • Demonstrate high level of understanding the principles and practices of coastal engineering, coastal protection and flood mitigation.
  • Provide high level project management and leadership overseeing on-going resiliency projects throughout the Gulf.
  • Demonstrate ability to complete complex engineering calculations for the design or analysis of projects located in coastal environments.
  • Provide engineering leadership at a project and task level and working with other engineering staff to complete projects.
  • Prepare Project Risk Register with understanding of risk-based decision making.
  • Prepare Plans, schedules for detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Manage preparation of cost estimates, feasibility reports, job budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare proposals and lead marketing efforts.
  • Conduct or oversee personnel involved in engineering investigations and planning work.
  • Communicate effectively and apply with a high level of understanding of project management principles.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Current registration as Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), preferably in Louisiana and/or Texas.
  • Experience managing Federal, State or municipal projects and technical staff
  • Candidate must have technical writing abilities and ability to manage others
  • Self-motivated with good work ethic are required
  • Self-confidence and strong people skills are needed
  • Experience working on engineering, planning, design and/or construction projects
  • Good understanding of market drivers, and relationships with local clients

Education and Experience

  • BS or MS in Civil or Coastal Engineering.
  • 15-20 years of experience in Engineering, or equivalent experience

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Flexible work hours.
