JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering firm projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors in order to deliver projects according to guidance from the project sponsor, formalized via a defined charter. Interfaces with all teams impacted by the project, including business analysts, internal stakeholders, and end users. The senior project manager will also define the project's objectives and scope and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Senior Project Manager is typically responsible for the managing all aspects of multiple highly complex projects / processes. Delivers innovative solutions to business problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Direct and manage project from start to finish. Track project milestones, deliverables, and risk.

2. In collaboration with management and stakeholders, define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals.

3. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.

4. Communicates appropriately and in a manner that demonstrates experience and a grasp of the strategic intent of a project.

5. Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

6. Coordinates with resource managers to estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company. Provides guidance to assist those making strategic decisions regarding project priorities, staffing assignments and budgets.

7. Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.

8. Communicate and manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.

9. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

10. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

11. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

12. Proactively manage changes in project scope and devise contingency plans.

13. Define project success metrics and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.

14. Identify and plan for change management tasks and communications needed to ensure a successful project implementation.

15. Monitor, mentor, motivate project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

16. Develop any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

17. Conduct project post mortems and document successful and unsuccessful project elements. Document client satisfaction levels.

18. Develop best practices, project standards, procedures, and quality objectives for assessing progress. Mentors' others regarding established project standards and procedures and quality objectives.

19. Has a detailed understanding of multiple practice group and/or business areas processes. Develops internal networks to gain an understanding of the firm.

20. Coaches and mentors less experienced project managers. Provides project management guidance on tools, methodologies, roles and responsibilities.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 5 - 7 years experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
  • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft tools, such as Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio
  • Demonstrated experience with both waterfall and agile development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong consultative, interpersonal & leadership skills
  • Strong process focus

Massachusetts Comprehensive Total Rewards Package

Ropes & Gray is proud to offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package to our business support team members. The anticipated pay range for this role is $122,500 - $184,000, which represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment and Hybrid work schedule (3 days in office and 2 days remote).
