Senior Project Manager

Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Senior Project Manager to join our team in Waltham, MA.  In this role, you will work closely with our cross-functional engineering teams managing key projects as we work towards bringing our product to market. As the Senior Project Manager across multiple projects you will have to set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarize progress of projects utilizing a blend of traditional waterfall and agile development. You will also prepare reports for upper management regarding the status of all projects and manage external resources.

Vicarious Surgical is a next generation robotics company developing a disruptive technology with the goal of increasing the efficiency of surgical procedure, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute complex internal and external development efforts, including supporting development of an integrated program plan and owning subsystem project plans.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide multiple mitigations and actions to address risk and scale solutions accordingly.
• Accountable for execution of complex subsystems and working closely with multiple subsystem team interfaces.
• Accountable for team performance at a subsystem level and key initiatives.
• Drive accountability and execution of team members to project priorities.
• Work with the Upstream Marketing  team to help define/refine customer/market requirements.
• Facilitate business phase gate reviews and support Program Technical Lead in technical design reviews.
• Proactively identify and escalate risks, issues and concerns to appropriate functional leadership.
• Partner with cross-functional leadership to maintain project alignment and execution.
• Complete and manage project charter, scope, goals, deliverables, resources, budget and timeline.
• Manage project changes and adjust resource loading and budget to support business needs.
• Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be openly raised and resolved, including productive conflict resolution.
• Gain cooperation and commitment from people through influence, not authority.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related field.
• 10+ years of overall work experience, including at least 6 years in a medical device industry with proven success launching a product and four years of experience in a technical lead and/or project manager capacity. 
• Experience developing capital equipment or complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Excellent organizational skills demonstrated in past projects.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Provides creative, collaborative solutions to solving project related issues.
• Strong influence management, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and a drive for results.
• Highly effective at dealing with change and ambiguity as business needs shift, responding well under pressure and demonstrating flexibility while ensuring compliance.
• Proficient with Microsoft Project, Office Timeline, and Powerpoint.
• Motivational and leadership skills to keep the team engaged and executing on schedule.
• Solid analytical skills to solve problems that come up during a typical day.
