Senior Project Manager & Estimator- (Municipal & Highway Road Construction)

Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is one of the largest construction companies in Northwestern Alberta, providing project management, gravel production, asphalt paving, and ready‑mix concrete services across Alberta.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager & Estimator to lead major highway construction projects—from complex tendering through to full project execution. This is a senior‑level role requiring extensive highway roadbuilding experience and proven leadership capability.

What You’ll Do

• Lead estimating for large‑scale highway construction tenders.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, quantities, schedules, and bid submissions.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Develop bid strategies, value‑engineering options, and risk assessments.
• Manage major highway projects from mobilization through construction to close‑out.
• Work closely with superintendents, foremen, and field teams to ensure production, budget, and schedule goals are met.
• Conduct routine site visits to assess progress, quality, and safety.
• Build strong working relationships with engineers, provincial agencies, and stakeholders.
• Proactively identify project risks and lead mitigation planning.
• Maintain high‑level project documentation, reporting, and financial tracking.

What You Bring

• 15+ years of experience in highway construction.
• Extensive experience estimating highway projects and preparing competitive tender submissions.
• Strong technical expertise in earthworks, grading, base, paving, and heavy civil operations.
• Proven leadership experience managing large construction teams and complex projects.
• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (asset).
• P.Eng, P.Tech, CET, or PMP designation (strong asset).
• Experience with Bid2Win (B2W) or similar estimating software (asset).
• Excellent communication, planning, and decision‑making skills.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and willingness to travel during construction season.
• Pre‑employment drug screening required.
