The Senior Project Manager, Project Management, is a new role that will manage some of the firm’s most complex and highly valued projects. Additionally, this position will help maintain and enhance a standardized project management framework, including relevant processes, policies, and tools within Audax’s Project Management Office (PMO).

The Senior Project Manager will support and execute across:

  • Enterprise: lead and manage large, complex projects consisting of multiple matrixed teams and/or requiring integration with other activities outside the scope of assigned project teams.
  • Team: play a consultative role to help deliver the appropriate people, process, and tools; coach members of the team to optimize project management efficiency.
  • Hybrid: apply sound judgment and expertise to create a project management approach aligned to attain the project objectives within the specified project limitations.

The Senior Project Manager should apply their conventional project management expertise and methods with a mixed approach that suits large, complex, enterprise-level projects. They should employ the proper level of planning and offer the right mix of flexibility and reliability to ensure the PMO adds value, is relevant to the strategy of the organization, and meets the goals set for the PMO by executive management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning.
  • Communicate status of the project and program portfolio to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines, and standards to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery.
  • Define principles and standards to harmonize project management methodologies from third party or external service providers.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to project methodology compliance standards set by the PMO.
  • Help evolve the mission and vision of the PMO and foster a project management-oriented culture and mindset within IT and its internal customers.

SKILLS

  • A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies including 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of both traditional project management principles and more agile/hybrid practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Prior experience with traditional Waterfall or Agile/Scrum project management methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects.
  • Experience overseeing multi-function project teams with at least 5-10 team members including Developers, Business Analysts, and other Personnel.
  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view.
  • Balanced business/technical background:
    • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to matrixed teams and to be able to evaluate complex project risks and issues accurately and objectively.
    • Ability to provide leadership to business analysts and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value.
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of project, program, or portfolio management experience within and outside IT, and incorporating external providers.
  • Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgeting.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership ability, business acumen, and industry knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using appropriate tools:
    • Project Management tools such as Jira, Asana, VersionOne or equivalent
    • Microsoft Project, Visio, and all MS Office Tools

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certified Scrum Manager (CSM), preferred.

LOCATION: Boston, MA. This position is in the office 4 days/week. These in-office requirements may be adjusted based on the needs of the business.


TRAVEL: At least quarterly travel to New York City-based office.
