Where You'll Come In

As the Protein Senior Manager, you will report to the Senior Director, Procurement & Planning and support the Planning and Procurement team to oversee activities related to sourcing of proteins from the intent to purchase through delivery of the material. You will be responsible for contracting materials, conducting market analysis to understand market trends, and negotiating for materials or services needed.

As the Protein Senior Manager, you will prepare and review contracts, bids, and proposals for vendor agreements. You will need to understand legal requirements for pricing and specifications of acceptable materials. It will be your responsibility to create and manage relationships with key suppliers, recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high-quality products and services with competitive pricing, and who maintain the highest code of ethics and conduct. It is imperative that you have the ability to resolve claims and manage crises in a timely manner with all internal and external partners. Overall, this position will support the Planning and Procurement function to identify and resolve material supply risks.

How You'll Make An Impact
  • Effectively implement sourcing strategies for the fresh and frozen protein category such that the product is purchased in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Interpret extensive market knowledge and industry analysis to identify where opportunities exist to optimize the business.
  • Champion the total cost of assigned category by identifying and implementing novel and creative means for reducing costs, while improving quality
  • Work closely with R&D and Commercialization teams to support new product development and launches. Proactively identifies new industries & protein opportunities for new recipes under development and support a seamless execution of these initiatives.
  • Liaise with co-manufacturers and 3PL partners as required to monitor inventory depletions and associated fees for TFD-owned and obsolete ingredient tracking.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality to set and track supplier KPI metrics; drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure suppliers are performing to the highest standard.
  • Provide an accurate monthly material forecast and other supporting forecast updates as needed to internal and external partners; effectively communicate changes in material costs and market drivers to internal stakeholders.
  • Drive consistency across plants as it relates to best practices in raw material procurement and supplier relationships.
We're Excited About You Because
  • You have 3-4 years of experience in Protein Purchasing, 7+ years in Supply Chain or Manufacturing roles.
  • You are a data-driven decision-maker with strong analytical skills and have proven success organizing, analyzing, and accurately interpreting large amounts of data
  • You have strong verbal, written, and problem-solving skills.
  • You’re experienced in leveraging vendor relationships, project management, and conflict resolution.
  • You develop strategies and take them through implementation and have a strong understanding of economics and analysis of value engineering.
  • You are results-focused when it comes to negotiation and contract development.
  • You’re proficient in Excel, e-procurement technologies and system integration.
  • You are proficient with Google and/or Microsoft Suite.
  • You’re willing to travel up to 25% of the time!

The office is open and available for all Monday through Friday. We commit to building a competitive compensation package and company environment for all individuals to thrive. We believe in competitive base compensation rooted in location specific market data and performance along with equity ownership in the company that allows every team member to build their personal wealth as the company grows, just as much as we believe in fostering a culture that supports our team members personally, professionally, and holistically. For this role the anticipated hiring base compensation range is $115,000 - $130,000 USD Annual and the compensation offered will include a robust market competitive package of base and equity. In addition to your base compensation offer you will also receive equity ownership in the company. More information about the value of this equity will be shared at the time of offer. This range is representative of NYC Market Data if you are applying to this role outside of the NYC area the range may change.
