About the Role
The Senior Publisher delivers realization and business plans aiming at the development and maintenance of a journals portfolio with major society accounts and proprietary journals in the disciplines of medical and health sciences, in line with the strategy, plans and global objectives at Elsevier's journal publishing division level. The role manages and develops an assigned portfolio of journal titles and related products and services on a complex level, demonstrates the ability to work self sufficiently and has a focus on being a lead example to and a mentor for team members in the publishing group.
You will have responsibility for journals in Pediatric and General Surgery within our Health and Medical Journals group. As a senior publisher, you are able manage and proactively develop a large and complex journal portfolio, to drive and lead portfolio related changes as well as to contribute to wider initiatives across the organization. You will build successful partnerships with individuals and institutions to develop mutually beneficial long-term collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining relationship networks with our research and clinical communities, representing Elsevier
- Working with editors, authors, editorial boards, societies, and the wider academic community to ensure copy flow of relevant, high-quality manuscripts
- Managing portfolio, driving content growth, journal performance, and customer satisfaction
- Developing the strategy for a journal portfolio, and creating ideas for new launches
- Monitoring continuous quality control and all aspects of day-to-day editorial, production and publishing operations and effectually addressing improvements where required
- Teamwork: you will need to work closely with team members and other publishing colleagues to help deliver on collaborative projects and goals.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an academic or publishing environment is desirable, with a proven track record of setting and realizing goals.
- Experience of working with research or health care communities and stakeholders at all levels in those communities, adopting a range of communication channels, and delivering great customer experience
- Ability to work efficiently and productively with colleagues and customers at different levels, in different locations, and from different cultures, and helping others where you can
- Strong can-do attitude and team-oriented approach are essential for success in this role
- Show the ability to be a self-starter and flexible to adapt to changing priorities
- Be able to identify and understand market needs for potential business opportunities
