The Senior Designer will help lead all design and engineering activities at Better Earth in one of our design silos. The design and engineering team overall executes all designs, engineering and permit packages needed including but not limited to; electrical schematics, structural details, module layouts, storage projects and equipment specifications. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, detail-oriented, and organized individual who is ready to help with complex projects and the development of our team, process, template and overall design system.

Duties:

  • Work on the most complex projects in your design silo.
  • Lead, develop and train Jr Designers in your design silo.
  • Work with the entire design and engineering team along with all design and engineering activities, systems and processes and provide feedback and ideas to improve the overall design system.
  • Be well versed on all things design and engineering at Better Earth where you can troubleshoot the most complex design issues and work with any team as may be needed from time to time.
  • Utilize our computer systems along with CAD to operate in an efficient manner.
  • Help grow and update design processes and systems as well as on work to develop our templates and design best practices.
  • Assist, leverage and help develop our AHJ database to ensure code compliance in all design activities.
  • Collaborate with our entire operations team as may be needed from time to time to ensure all design activities are leading to the most efficient permitting, installation and inspection processes possible.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of previous experience designing residential PV systems is a must.
  • 1+ years of leadership is a must.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of CAD is a must.
  • Knowledge of NEC and other applicable codes is a must.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Ability to lead, train, manage and develop a high performing team in a high volume environment is a must.
  • Must has strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Solar PV Design/Engineering
