Senior Python Developer

Project Description

The project is for one of the leading global investment management firm. The firm is assembling a new specialized team of engineers, quants and data scientists to design, build, deploy and operate their next generation research and trading capabilities. The team works jointly with portfolio managers, trading and operations. The culture of the team is entrepreneurial, where work/life balance, ownership, and excellence are highly valued.

Compensation for NY between 130000 - 180000 USD Gross per year

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:• Development of applications' frontend and backend• Designing & improving solutions architecture• Participation in requirements elicitation, communication with end customers• Improving development processes• Code reviews
Mandatory Skills:• 3+ years of development experience in Python• Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures• Savvy with data science stack (pandas, numpy, scipy), multiprocessing, data caching• Results-oriented, can deliver quality code with quick turnaround
Nice-to-Have Skills:• Data Science/Analysis background• Proficient at working with large datasets• Expertise in creating and modifying cross-language systems• Familiarity with quantitative finance concepts such as portfolio optimization• Understanding of distributed/cloud computing technologies and emerging computing trends• Self-starter and critical thinker, takes ownership of own projects and makes improvement suggestions for the entire infrastructure• Strong written and oral communications skills.

Skills

Must have

• BA or Master in computer science or any other scientific fields• 5+ years of experience in Python• A Quant background• Experience with writing and tuning SQL queries. A candidate should possess a strong
fundamental understanding of relational databases• Understanding of HTML, XML, and JSON formats• Strong knowledge of Unix or Linux• Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment• Detail-oriented, organized, demonstrating thoroughness and strong ownership of work• Experience working in a production environment.

Nice to have

• Ability to work with Git, Jenkins or CI/CD tools
