GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Senior Quantitative Analyst will provide support for the development, implementation, and documentation of innovative fraud prevention strategies by analyzing fraud trend data. This role is within Financial Crimes, and supports the fraud systems integrated within our digital banking platforms.

The Analyst will be responsible for the resolution of complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines, or processes. Role at this level usually has full ownership for one or more processes, reports, procedures, or products, and may also be considered analytical or procedural experts representing a unit or team on cross-function process or project deliverables. Works closely with the Senior Quantitative Manager to identify fraud risks and mitigations for digital banking, both via web and mobile app.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify risk factors and trends of potentially fraudulent activity utilizing quantitative data analytics and/or statistical methods.
  • Utilize analytics to develop and implement comprehensive fraud detection strategies that balance fraud loss, cost of execution, and customer experience.
  • Extract and analyze data, investigate data integrity and perform data and portfolio analysis.
  • Create and update rules within multiple real-time fraud platforms to mitigate fraud trends.
  • Generate fraud metrics to show the performance of fraud systems for use in management reporting.
  • Responsible for maintaining, developing, and tuning existing risk tools and mitigation rules.
  • Identify gaps in current systems, policies and strategies and take actions to mitigate emerging fraud risks with guidance from managers.
  • Maintain and develop intelligent and cutting-edge techniques for identifying and mitigating emerging risks.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as potential risks are identified.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's college degree (Master's degree/PhD preferred) in quantitative analytics, economics, statistics, engineering, or a related area (STEM background) or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience with fraud investigations and/or mitigation desired.
  • Must have database experience.
  • Must have experience with SAS, R, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or interactive data visualization software a plus.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to present a professional image.
  • Self-directed, capable of working in a group environment as well as work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and to be flexible.
