We are recruiting for a (Senior) Quantum Software Engineer.

LOCATION

Infleqtion has 5 office locations, operating out of Boulder, CO; Madison, WI; Chicago, IL; London, UK; and Melbourne, AU. This position is a full-time position which will be located in our Chicago office.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President, Quantum Software, the newly hired engineer will be responsible for providing optimization and improvement efforts for our products and services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop full-stack quantum software optimizations: these optimizations can span the full stack, from algorithmic improvements, compiler optimizations, and pulse-level control techniques to force-multiply the capabilities of underlying quantum hardware (We target both NISQ and fault-tolerant hardware)
  • Deploy software optimizations to our cloud platform (SuperstaQ) with industry-grade software engineering procedures including documentation, linting, testing, and type-checking
  • Interface with customers of SuperstaQ to understand their needs and support them in a timely fashion
  • Conduct R&D toward cutting-edge advances in quantum technology. Write and manage funding proposals to multi-million-dollar programs across the globe
  • Other duties or projects as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Software Engineer:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or directly related field required, w/a Master's degree or PhD strongly desired. Candidate should have two to five years experience in quantum technology.
  • Senior Software Engineer:
    • Master's or PhD-level training in computer science, engineering, physics or directly related field. At least five years of experience in quantum technology, with at least two years of professional industry-level quantum software work experience.
  • Deep familiarity with quantum computing is necessary
  • Experience with open-source quantum software frameworks such as Cirq or Qiskit; Ideal candidates will have experience not only using these libraries but also modifying them
  • Experience with python programming and software engineering best practices; Ideal candidates will have an active track record on Github/Gitlab, contributing to open-source repositories or building their own repositories
  • Strong work ethic and drive; Appetite for working at the frontiers of quantum technology
  • Orientation towards execution and strong work ethic
  • Professional level written and verbal communications; excellent problem-solving skills, with the demonstrated ability to effectively share information with technical and non-technical staff
  • Professional level collaboration skills, with the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment where engagement and participation are an expected part of successful job performance
  • This role requires that you do not require sponsorship or a work visa transfer
