Senior Rail Specialist (Boise, ID)

Summary
The job has the operational responsibility and accountability for the management of rail car utilizations and support covering invoicing approvals from railroads, customer claims, logistics support to all internal and 3rd party warehouses. Position leads the coordination of railcar placements and support strategy in conjunction with finished goods distribution plans. Responsible for delivering customer service excellence and value to the supply chain, while providing pivotal services to internal and external partners. In addition, this role is responsible for assisting with continuous improvement projects to optimize the logistics network and ensure we are at the leading edge in operational efficiency. Support and back up for Domestic Logistics operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Forecast and model rail car utilizations• Investigate and authenticate rail invoices approving for release of funds• Investigate damaged product shipments providing root cause• Obtain POD's and relevant paperwork for customer claims• Ensure end of month reconciliation process in completed in a timely manner• Ensure Service Provider's complete end of month tasks in a timely manner• Damaged stock written off monthly in accordance with Logistic procedures• Support the early morning warehouse and transport operations to ensure the smooth dispatch of Simplot orders• Liaise with class 1 rail providers regarding late arrival rail cars• Handle and supervise early morning warehouse and transport issues• Issue reports to key associates detailing service related issues and on time delivery performance
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
Relevant Experience
5+ years related experience and/or training
Other Information
• Competent computer literacy across MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), and ERP such as JDE• Experience in dealing with transport and warehouse operations• Sound experience of stock movements• Experience in inventory management including and understanding of a computerized inventory system• Proven analytical abilities• Strong attention to detail• Demonstrated personal commitment and flexibility to attain daily goals and objectives• Proven self-discipline• Demonstrated communication skills• Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions when required
