Senior R&D Scientist – Applied Biochemistry

Key Responsibilities & Tasks: 

• Incorporate safe work procedures in all processes while maintaining a safe work environment in the lab.
• Lead activities of the applied biochemistry laboratory in liaison with the key internal stakeholders (R&D, Sales, Business Development) from concept to lab and field validation and product commercialization through a stage gated process.
• Mentor and lead technologists and scientists to meet projects progress based on technology and business roadmaps.
• Identify opportunities to collaborate with internal stakeholders on new projects based on their technical needs.
• Support business development by building relationships between the corporate R&D, internal business units and external partners.
• Execute the defined intellectual property strategy associated with new technology development and ensure that new product and technology developments are unique in nature and patentable.
• Communicate the science and technology of Locus Fermentation Solutions products and services via scientific and industry recognized publications and conference presentations.

Required Qualifications & Skills: 

• Masters or PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or closely related discipline.
• 3+ years in an industrial R&D environment.
• Demonstrated experience and applied knowledge of biochemistry of industrial fermentation.
• Proven track of project management skills.
• Experience in dealing with senior level management.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of time.
