Senior R&D Technician

Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Senior Technician to join our team in Waltham, MA.  You’ll be part of the systems integration team, which is responsible for bringing up and testing our surgical robotic platform. You will contribute to the assembly, debugging, calibration and testing of the different electromechanical assemblies that make up our system, including robot arms and cameras, external robot and surgeon console. 

Although you’ll be working in a collaborative environment, autonomy will be particularly important in this role since you’ll be part of a small team. Every day will come with different challenges so flexibility is important.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble new prototypes of our system, documenting any issues you encounter
• Configure and calibrate newly assembled robotic components
• Configure Windows and Linux computers
• Perform diagnostic checks on robotic systems and repair as needed
• Perform soldering, crimping and wire routing tasks as needed
• Follow protocols to test system and subsystem performance
• Maintain and service existing robotic systems
• Work collaboratively with the design, manufacturing and assembly teams

About You:

• Technical certification, technology degree or equivalent work experience
• 2-3 years of professional electromechanical manufacturing, assembly or repair experience
• Experience working with a variety of hand tools, power tools, fixtures and benchtop instruments
• Experience operating basic electrical diagnostic instruments (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc)
• Experience performing basic Windows and Linux troubleshooting
• Experience using Solidworks
• Experience using 3D printers
• Familiarity with Linux and command line interfaces
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
