As part of the AES global team, the Renewables Specialist will be in synch with the knowledge and best practice sharing, process-driven collaboration, and full leverage of scale across AES's renewable businesses. This position will have responsibility for conducting bidding, due diligences, analysis and basic planning of categories demanding sourcing processes and suppliers performance and follow-up actions. The Sr. Specialist will pursue economies of scale and alignments with other projects in line with category guidelines. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and timely supply of reliable renewable equipment and services at efficient Total Cost of Ownership and quality to AES.

Role requires capacity to anticipate risks, understand stakeholder implications and coordinate appropriate specific steps to handle issues with organization due to the initiative to expand the participation of Supply Chain in the decision process. Responsible for all phases of sourcing that require the skills vital to identify cost savings opportunities, build driven environments and creatively negotiate.Should be able to apply experience and technical knowledge related to Renewable plant functionality and Operation to develop the right approach for the different portfolio of requirements. Ensuring best practices on sourcing bidding process and RFPs is part of the role responsibilities, as well as understanding the financial background of the business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Handle the preparation of event-specific sourcing documentation related to Requests for Information; Requests for Proposals; Technical, Commercial and Pricing Datasheets; and Special Terms and Conditions.
  • PO/Contract creation for Direct Spend Renewable Generation requisitions for materials and services for one or more SA business entities.
  • Engagement with vendors for proposal requests.
  • Identify key variables to improve proposals from Vendors/Contractors to optimize Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) for new Renewables Plants.
  • Conduct local/Regional bidding processes.
  • If requested, participate in global processes.
  • Local/Regional coordination of expense and interaction with project owners.
  • Provide input as requested from the Category Manager.
  • Maintaining accurate information in projects repository from the businesses (APS - AES Planning System).
  • Member of a Category at a business level.
  • Support on unplanned necessities at Local/Regional level.
  • Conduct SRM (Supplier Relationship Management
  • Fair basic knowledge on the ground experience and knowledge on the technical specifications related to the renewable plants systems
  • Support on business emergency needs.

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge on utility scale solar operation.
  • Technical Studies from accredited entity or several years of operational experience
  • 3+ years of validated experience as a leader in areas related to renewable assets' maintenance, project construction, EPC or BoP/BoS management.
  • Desirable experience in Supply Chain/Procurement/Sourcing of equipment/materials/services.
  • Strong negotiations skills with extensive contract negotiation experience
  • Ability to build and improve strategic partnerships for mutual benefit
  • Knowledge and experience with sourcing/procuring power plant/utility equipment, services and construction
  • Solid MS-Excel skills
  • Knowledge of SAP MM module (desirable) • Knowledge of SAP Ariba (desirable)
  • Total Travel 20%, including Global Travel 10%
  • Languages: English required, Spanish would be desirable

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $75.000 and $106.250/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
