Job Description

At the very core

The ideal Senior Reporting Accountant has Software as a Service (SaaS) accounting experience in a multi-entity, international company with exposure to transfer pricing, mergers/acquisitions, and intercompany allocations. The Senior Reporting Accountant will be a critical driver of a continuous improvement culture and will work cross-functionally to ensure accurate, timely accounting. This position is expected to support team and Company initiatives proactively and enthusiastically, including process improvement and growth, in a fast-paced and acquisitive environment.

What you'll do

• Participate in the month-end close process to produce high-quality financials, maintaining excellent communication with the Finance and leadership teams throughout, creating journal entries and reviewing other accountants' journals
• Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and identify and resolve exposures
• Review staff accountants' reconciliations and provide mentorship and guidance to improve work quality and support their career progression
• Perform flux analysis and obtain detailed understanding of transactions/activities recorded to accounts, ensuring proper accounting is being applied and providing variance explanations with business drivers; present flux analysis to CFO and other leaders in the Finance organization
• Coordinate PBC preparation for external audit
• Prepare financial statements for lenders, banks, and external audit in conjunction with the Finance team
• Support M&A activities including diligence, integration, and purchase accounting in conjunction with Accounting leadership
• Document existing accounting policy and optimize processes and ERP functionality to ensure compliance
• Stay informed on new accounting guidance and lead projects to implement where applicable
• Assist Tax Manager with tax-related projects
• Assist with cash or banking analysis, needs and requirements
• Identify areas for improvement, including process or control weaknesses, communicate to management, and implement changes to enhance the control environment and mitigate risk

Critical projects for this role include

• Participating in the ASC 842 implementation
• Establishing appropriate cadence and controls for intercompany accounting, including validating historical intercompany balances
• Optimizing use of the accounting software to reduce manual and offline journals and reconciliations
• Reviewing and documenting accounting treatment and policies for various aspects of the business, from fixed assets to revenue recognition

What you'll need to succeed

Must Have:

• CPA (completed or in completion) or equivalent certification
• B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or equivalent; Master's preferred
• Accounting guidance research, documentation, and policy refresh/implementation
• 5+ years' experience in accounting, including General Ledger, Consolidations, and Balance Sheet reconciliation
• 2+ years' supervising/managing a high-functioning team
• Thorough understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Professional communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to make sound decisions and take calculated risks

Great to Have:

• Workday ERP experience
• Experience understanding accounting system functionality and working with developers to optimize and/or create new functionality
• Experience with payment processing and/or software-as-a-service industries
• Mergers & Acquisitions experience
• 1+ years of mentorship and reviewing others' work
• Private equity background
