Senior Research Analyst - Quantitative Modeling
Job Description
MarketAxess is a FinTech company and component of the S&P 500. We are a leading provider of global fixed income trading platforms, data, and post-trade solutions.Â
The fixed-income markets represent an enormous global marketplace, where only a fraction of average daily trade volume occurs electronically. Believe it or not, most fixed-income trades are still executed via phone or blotter, providing us with a significant opportunity for disruption and future growth.Â
We believe this market is ripe for disruption and have created a proprietary electronic platform that connects the world’s most influential financial institutions to the world’s largest capital market. Since 2015, MarketAxess has grown from roughly 300 employees to approximately 700 with offices across seven countries and annual revenue has more than doubled. We’re excited about the growth opportunities ahead and have built a fast-paced, collaborative, environment where all employees are empowered to make a material impact. We hope you’ll come join us!
Over the last twenty years, MarketAxess has completely revolutionized the fixed-income market by creating a single platform using proprietary technology that connects the world’s most influential financial institutions. Today, more than 1,700 institutional investors and broker-dealer firms rely on us to bring them accurate market data to assist with their trading decisions, connectivity solutions that facilitate straight-through processing and technology services to optimize trading environments.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze bond market activity and market micro-structure, including proprietary MarketAxess data, TRACE and TraX reporting data.
- Improve research’s data products like our Liquidity Models (Relative Liquidity Score and Tradability) or our award-winning pricing product, Composite+.
- Work closely with global product and development teams to enrich client trading solutions, specifically working closely with the Trading System teams to create execution models to help improve client’s trading outcomes.
- Create and maintain presentation materials for internal and external meetings, while working closely with our sales teams to empower them to have informed data driven conversations with clients.
- Take ownership of existing reports and drive the development of new products and analytics for internal and external users.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
- Undergraduate or Masters’ or PhD degree in a quantitative field (science, engineering, mathematics, or statistics is preferred).
- 5+ years of experience as a quant or a data scientist in the financial industry.
- Strong quantitative, analytical and statistics skills. This will ultimately require a mix of advanced querying / programming capabilities including R/Python, SQL, AWS, Tableau, and Machine Learning.
- Expertise in fixed income market-macro and -microstructure, along with some knowledge of signal processing in financial markets; prior experience back testing trading strategies is a plus.
- Highly analytical, flexible, and creative problem solver who works well under pressure.
- Well-organized, team-oriented, intellectually curious, and a proactive attitude to take initiative, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Superb interpersonal skills alongside an entrepreneurial mindset to drive new ideas to market/production.
What’s In It for You?
