This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ), OJP's mission is to increase public safety and improve the fair administration of justice across America through innovative leadership and programs. NIJ's mission is to advance scientific research, development, and evaluation to enhance the administration of justice and public safety.

Qualifications
Degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
-OR-
Combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
-OR-
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates the acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
- Provides expert analysis and advice on complex Evidence Act program issues and evidence-based data systems such as CrimeSolutions.
- Serves as an expert on social science and criminal justice statistical and data analytical matters.
- Formulates, plans, and/or recommends social science and criminal justice research and evaluation projects and programs.
- Conducts foundational fact-finding social science and criminal justice research and analysis such as aggregate indicators, exploratory studies, descriptive statistics, and basic research.
- Develops methods and analytical approaches for building evidence within an agency to use data to support criminal justice policy decisions.
- Provides guidance and assistance on social science research and criminal justice evaluation methodology, data collection, and data analysis issues.

- This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building at least four (4) days per bi-weekly pay period and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.
