Role Summary:

Dyne is seeking a Senior Research Associate. The Senior Research Associate will be responsible for planning and executing experiments to support drug discovery programs. The specific duties include:

  • Design experiments to develop cell-based assays to support drug discovery and development.
  • Execute the developed cell-based assays and generation of the technical documents.
  • Use aseptic technique to culture and maintain mammalian primary and immortalized cell lines (human, non-human primate, and mouse) for in vitro experimental use.
  • Conduct in vitro studies to develop pre-clinical support with the drug candidate, including:
    • Preparation of mammalian cells for treatment by modifying growth conditions, modifying cell culture matrices, and/or inducing differentiation.
    • Handling of novel test articles including aseptic technique, quantification, and dilution for treatment.
    • Maintenance of in vitro culture through the length of the experiment.
    • Harvesting of relevant biological material for samples analysis, including isolation of RNA, DNA, or protein for biomolecular analysis, including:
      • Appropriate handling of biological material to ensure validity of data interpretation.
      • Quantification of RNA, DNA, or protein for subsequent use.
    • Execution of biomolecular analytical techniques to drive forward our drug discovery programs, including:
      • Gene expression analysis using quantitative PCR, semi-quantitative PCR (using both agarose gel and capillary electrophoresis).
      • Protein analysis using Western blotting and ELISA.
      • Immunofluorescent staining for confocal microscopy.
    • Collate and analyze data (w/valid statistical testing), and communicate findings to team members and management.
    • Contribute to critical discussion of experimental design and assay development.
    • Adapt and actively incorporate new concepts or ideas as appropriate.
    • Support in developing new indications in drug discovery programs.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional group and coordinate research information between departments.
    • Create presentations to exhibit research findings in internal scientific meetings and team discussions.

Education & Skill Requirements

BS or equivalent or higher in Biology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry or closely related.

Other Requirements:

Must have demonstrated proficiency in molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to:

  • In vitro cell culture techniques
  • Nucleic acid isolation extraction for gene expression analysis
  • Protein isolation, performing western blots and ELISA
