About us...

Photys is an exciting early-stage biotechnology company developing novel bifunctional small molecules for fine-tuned control of post-translational modifications beyond ubiquitination, building off the same principles that underpin PROTACs. We will unlock directed protein post-translational modifications as a therapeutic strategy to treat a broad range of diseases such as oncology, immunological diseases, and metabolic diseases as well as genetic disorders.

About the opportunity...

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate with experience in biochemical assay development and deployment to help us characterize the affinity, function and mode of action of our bifunctional molecules and to ultimately transform these into lifesaving drugs.  This will be a great opportunity to learn new techniques and assay formats and to increase your repertoire of skill sets as you help the team discover new drugs to treat patients with unmet medical needs.

What you will do...

• Develop, implement and execute robust biochemical and biophysical assays at GLP level to support our platform development and program progression
• Follow Standard protocols to execute routine screening assays.
• Determine selectivity of compounds within target families and across other target families.
• Accurately record, analyze and upload data to our internal database.
• Maintain and track an inventory of biochemical reagents.
• Collaborate across functional teams of medicinal chemists and biologists to accelerate lead optimization and identify solutions and improvements. 
• Present results at group and/or project meetings

About you...

• B.S. with 5 or more years or M.S. with 3 or more  years of academic or industrial laboratory experience in biochemistry, proteomics, or related field.   
• Expertise in biochemical and biophysical assay development, and ideally experience with mass spectrometry.
• Experience with either enzyme kinetics and or biophysical techniques including DSF, SPR, ITC or MST would be advantageous.
• Drug discovery experience is desired but adjacent scientific backgrounds will also be considered.
• Excellent at problem-solving and multi-tasking, with a willingness to take on responsibility and continually pursue self-improvement.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate in a fast-paced team environment.
• Exceptional time management skills and ability to work well under pressure and drive projects that affect critical timelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail, outstanding organizational and documentation skills.
