Senior Revenue Accountant
Job Description
I. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
The senior accountant position is an individual contributor working under the direct supervision of manager of Revenue Accounting. The role is responsible for billing, revenue recognition, reporting, account reconciliations and adjustment preparation and processing for multiple revenue streams. This individual will also develop and monitor compliance with accounting policies and processes and will provide accounting guidance and support to other accounting team members to ensure accuracy in reporting and compliance with GAAP and WeatherGroup accounting policies.
II. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, review and process billing details for assigned revenue streams to assure billing accuracy, and to verify the balances interface into the financial reporting system properly.
- Prepare and ensure final invoices are sent to customers
- Manage AR through the initiation of the billing adjustment process. Prepare and present for appropriate approvals revenue adjustments, credit/debit memos, and refunds.
- Within the appropriate subsidiary or the financial reporting system, process properly documented and approved customer billing adjustments, debit and credit memos and refunds. Ensure balances interface from subsidiary system into the financial reporting system properly. Timely submissions of adjusting journal entries to manager for review and posting to general ledger.
- Preparation of analysis and reports for Accounting and other departments as assigned
- Participate in various internal and external departmental focus groups (i.e. Collections, Cable Audit, Marketing Support, Billing Requirements, Advertising Effectiveness, etc). Act as the record keeper for various meetings and prepare meeting minutes in a timely manner.
- Timely & accurate preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations and clearing of reconciling items per established deadlines to ensure the integrity of the financial statements
- Participate in month-end closing activities to include preparing journal entries, revenue packages, revenue summary data, and variance analysis
- Maintain a great working relationship within the Accounting department and with other departments by providing prompt feedback and support
- Continuous review of existing processes & procedures and provide feedback on areas in need of improvement
- Provide support to the Accounting department as requested including but not limited to audit assistance
- Other duties as assigned
II. QUALIFICATIONS
A. KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
B. SKILLS
- Detail oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel & Word
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
- Ability to problem solve, analytical, and have organized thinking
- Ability to work with people at all levels within the organization
- Works well with others and enjoys a team environment
- Ability to take ownership of processes and work independently
- NetSuite ERP and WideOrbit experience is a plus
