Job Description
The Senior Risk Specialist - Technical and Model Risk - will oversee model risk and controls at TAB. This individual is responsible for independent oversight of model risk and controls across the model population at TAB. This individual will also have responsibility for supporting TAB Management by identifying, documenting, and monitoring controls across the organization. The ideal candidate will be highly driven, results oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and have the ability to innovate and improve process at TAB Bank.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model Risk Management
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for implementing model risk management policy, governance and framework and performing model validation.
- Support and drive the team to implement activities defined in model risk management framework.
- Provide guidance in the management of models including identification of models, documentation of model design, assumptions/limitations, administration, output and uses, governance, change management, and input processing.
- Perform or coordinate independent model validation and analyze factors that augment quantitative models. Review to confirm proper controls and adequate documentation are in place.
- Lead and collaborate with team to build and maintain a Model inventory and Risk Assessment
- Lead risk and control assessments of model risk exposures; identifying risks, evaluating their potential impact, and reviewing the strengths and weaknesses of the organizations existing controls.
- Monitor control compliance and prevalent risk environment to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels.
- Build strong relationships with first line of defense; discuss risk and control outcomes and effective challenges, to be actioned by first line and viewed as trusted partner.
- Complete monitoring activities to report model risk exposures, emergent risks, and provide effective challenges.
- Process Diagraming and Change Management
- Coordinate the documentation of processes at TAB using available tools.
- Assist in the identification of risks and controls in the current processes.
- Lead the operational change management process by coordinating with management across the organization to identify and document process changes and assess the impacts of those changes.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in business or other related field
- Experience in modeling or model risk management
- 2 - 4 years Banking experience
- IT Security/Auditing experience a plus
- Internal Audit or Compliance experience a plus
- Equivalent Combination of education and work experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Strong understanding of modeling risk principles
- Understanding of Banking products and processes
- Understanding of Risks and Controls
- Attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work with all levels of employees and manage through influence
- Ability to follow-up and complete projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
