Senior Ruby on Rails Developer

We're looking for a sharp and collaborative Ruby on Rails Developer to join our team during a period of high growth. As a Technology leader, you'll be excited and obsessed with web application development and enjoy sharing your ideas and leading them forward in a positive, cross-functional company.

In this role, you'll also work closely with non-technical folks at Huckberry to improve our backend data management system, streamlining workflows of our in-house photographers, writers, marketers, and merchandisers while never taking the foot off the gas of site performance with continual tweaks across our React front end, Rails backend, and setting high-performance baselines across our technology stack. The ideal candidate will have this balance inherent to their thinking and process.

**Preference for this position to be based in Austin, Texas but open to remote for the right candidate
Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain tested, efficient, and reusable Ruby code
• Ensure the best possible performance and quality of deployed code
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
• Guide and teach our developers on better development practices, problem solving, evaluating projects
• Thought partner across Eng, Prod, Data leadership team to collaborate on technical and procedural improvements and moments of synergy for the betterment of all
• Optimizing a site with a predominately mobile customer base, balancing code choices for optimal user experience vs. code weight
• Increase Huckberry's abilities across its Marketing Technology stack to fuel future growth
• Implement/improve Customer Engagement Platforms
• Brainstorm solutions to internal roadblocks, so that we can launch new campaigns that bring perspective to our products

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience
• Practical yet ambitious - ability to break down tasks into manageable chunks, differentiate between must-haves versus nice-to-haves, handle uncertainty, and see projects through to their completion
