About the opportunity
Ontra is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to join our dynamic Sales team. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a solutions engineer or domain expert familiar with the private funds or legal tech spaces who's eager to apply their superb relationship-building skills and domain and product expertise to drive global revenue.
Reporting into the Principal Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining extensive knowledge of our products' values, functions, and features and partnering with the sales team where technical expertise in the funds lifecycle and our related products is required to demonstrate the value of our solutions and successfully execute complex sales processes. You will be the product and subject matter expert in funds lifecycle management within the sales organization.
What you'll do

  • Partner. Work collaboratively with Sales Closers and Partnerships team members to support the sales process and customer journey from proposed solution to successful adoption, value realization, and expansion.
  • Provide expertise. Possess an in-depth knowledge of the funds lifecycle, our solutions, and how those solutions help our customers accomplish their business goals. Be able to provide product, technical, and integration expertise in a way that removes confusion, doubt, and uncertainty. Develop technical presentations customized for prospects and customers.
  • Inform.Solicit and log customer feedback and evaluate the data to inform sales and marketing strategies. Work with Marketing and Product to define new products and features and provide insight from the field back to these groups.
  • Educate. Improve the knowledge of the Sales team by holding regular education sessions, create documentation that addresses frequently asked questions or specific topics of interest, and share lessons learned from customer sales opportunities.


What you'll bring

  • Experience.6+ years selling to legal, compliance, and finance stakeholders or 4+ years in the private funds legal or investment management space; familiarity with the private funds or legal tech spaces required.
  • Sales acumen.Excellent sales, customer service, and interpersonal skills. High degree of motivation and drive.
  • Strong written & verbal communication. Strong ability to communicate - both written and verbally - with above the line and below the line buyers.
  • Collaborative. Passion about building strong, trusted relationships with our sales team, other internal teams, and our prospects and customers.
  • Problem solver. Exceptional problem-solving ability, an aptitude to learn new technologies quickly. Willingness to grow, evolve, and learn.
  • Passion for learning and teaching: A strong desire to deeply understand our solutions, their features and benefits, and how they solve customer problems (including how they do this differently and better than other available alternatives). Passion for teaching prospects, customers, and other internal team members.
  • Systems Thinking: Strong ability to iterate on current systems and improve processes as part of a growing team
  • Readiness to travel as needed: Comfortable traveling to customers, events, and offsites at least once per month
