Job Description

Chronicle Books is seeking a highly motivated Senior Sales Manager with proven sales experience, a track record of success, and the ability to open new business. We are looking for someone to meet or exceed sales targets, aggressively prospect for new accounts, and represent Chronicle Books at trades shows and events, while managing the business in a profitable way.

The Senior Sales Manager will create retail partnerships and opportunities, generate proposals/negotiate terms, curate relevant titles, and actively sell both front list and back list titles to accounts. Creating innovative partnerships, reviewing dormant accounts for revival possibilities, forecasting seasonally, and providing feedback to editorial and marketing are central to this role. A high level of customer retention is important, as is delivering competitive information from accounts and providing regular CRM updates on new business. The person in this role will also manage a National Specialty Assistant. Please note that this job description is not designed to cover all activities required of the employee.

Requirements

Applicants will need 5+ years of account management experience in the book or gift industry, a demonstrated success in managing and growing national account business, and a proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. Salesforce.com experience a plus.

Employees at Chronicle Books follow a flexible hybrid schedule of working a minimum of 2 days per week and up to 4 days per week in either our San Francisco or New York office, depending on project and business needs.

Hiring Salary Range: $78,000 - $89,700. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including but not limited to: the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible for our profit share plan and an annual sales bonus.
