ASRC Federal Space and Defense is seeking a talented Senior Satellite Systems Engineer to support efforts on emerging spacecraft integration and launch contracts located at Kirtland AFB, NM.
Essential Functions:
- Help develop and execute the upfront planning and coordination followed by the integration of Government supplied payloads to the Spacecraft bus
- Help prime contractor Mission Manager develop early payload ICD verification and validation on one or more GFE payloads
- Support the development and verification of program requirements
- Assist the prime and government risk management processes as require
- Work early coordination of Payload ICD reviews and help trouble shoot issues in a pro-active manner ahead of payload shipment to prime contractor
- Upon GFE arrival at the prime contractor facility, help with the management of one or more GFE payloads through the integration and S/C Test phase
- Support integration efforts during the launch campaign
- Support On-orbit mission operations for GFE payload related issue resolution and software upgrades as necessary
- Contribute to and author reports in support of government CDRL delivery
- Assist in cost and schedule support with the prime contractor
- Assist any required program and cyber security initiatives
- Support program technical reviews, Technical interchange meetings and other meeting forums as required
- Assist with configuration and data management as required by the prime contractor
- Support Program Office System Safety Group (SSG) as required
Required Skills:
- Self-starter, ability to self-motivate and work in a remote site without direct daily supervision
- Experience with satellite ground system design, development and sustainment
- Experience with the USAF risk management and configuration control processes
- Experience with system test and verification
- Familiarization with USAF processes and procedures used at Kirtland AFB, Cape Canaveral AFS and Vandenberg AFB in support of satellite integration, launch and on prohibit activities
- Proficiency with the operation of personal computers and the use of various engineering tools such as spreadsheets and word processing are required
- Effectively present information and respond to questions for technical interchange meetings that include but not limited to managers, customers, and colleagues
Required Experience:
- Master's degree in technical or engineering field
- Five plus years related experience in spacecraft integration to include ICD development
- Experience supporting on-orbit spacecraft operations
- Ability to travel to support spacecraft integration, launch and on-orbit operations. This may include extended TDYs (up to one month duration) to either of the national ranges and the prime contractors/GFE customer facilities.
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project requirements
- Current DoD TS/SCI security clearance
- Valid U.S. Driver's License required
