Job Description
Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA), Southwest Division is seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Computational Physics Group. We are looking for a leading expert who will conduct advanced scientific research and to contribute ideas and experimental approaches to research projects, and support the design and development of processes for new architectures, architecture performance evaluation, troubleshooting and analysis.
As a Senior Scientist at ARA you will analyze data and develop experimental designs and also be able to manage scientific projects. This position conducts advanced scientific research and is expected to contribute ideas and experimental approaches to research projects, and support the design and development of processes for new architectures, architecture performance evaluation, troubleshooting and analysis. This candidate will analyze data and develop experimental designs and also be able to manage scientific projects. Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts to job assignments, and contributes to the advancement of industry knowledge in the area of expertise. They will solve the most complex technical problems, of critical importance to the organization's technical direction. Qualified candidate must be recognized as an expert in the field, leads development and implementation of key technologies for the organization. This position will work closely with USG Customers to coordinate and execute a wide array of technical efforts that are coordinated under a unifying vision. The Senior Scientist needs to have capabilities across technical and project management areas. The qualified candidate will lead and coordinate multi-disciplined activities to successfully deliver advanced modeling, simulation, and analytic capabilities. The candidate should be able to balance top-down and bottom-up approaches to solve extremely challenging problems.

Additional Requirements:
- Background or firm understanding of space systems operations and engineering
- Background or firm understanding of advanced modeling and simulation development
- Background or firm understanding of machine learning, artificial intelligence, graph theory, and game theory
- Background or firm understanding of Wargaming environments
Experience:
- Experience with agile software development
- Experience with at least one modern software development environment, such as Python, and comfortable implementing quick-turnaround, proof of concept codes/scripts in such environments
- Significant experience with demanding customer interactions. Able to effectively communicate plans and results
- Ability to present complex technical concepts to a broad audience
- Experience with technology management and development. The successful candidate will work with the Customer to develop technology roadmaps and solidify future plans and funding
- Experience in modern intelligence analysis problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well with many organizations and branches to develop solutions for the customer consistent with customer goals
- Lead and manage groups of technical individuals working in customers' facilities
