Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled candidate for the role of Senior Scientist on our Analytical Development team. This candidate will be involved in analytical method development, optimization, technical transfer to the Quality Control group, and support of Process Development efforts. The ideal candidate will be expected to execute experiments independently, collect data, and report on their findings in a well-planned and coordinated manner. This person should be excited by technical challenges and the ability to grow as a scientist as part of a novel viral gene therapy development team. This position will be based in the Company’s new state-of-the-art facility in Andover, Massachusetts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, optimize, and transfer assays for RNA and LNP characterization, product release, and stability testing
• Develop analytical methods to support viral particle characterization, including functional potency, infectious titer, ELISA, quantitative/digital PCR, and fluorescence/luminescence assays
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support research, process development, manufacturing, and Quality Control
• Independently analyze, compile, and present experimental data in oral presentations and technical documents
• Write and review SOPs, analytical test methods, protocols, and reports
• Contribute directly to regulatory filings
• Mentor junior staff and oversee maintenance of mammalian cell lines, critical laboratory reagents, and troubleshooting of advanced equipment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s (+8 years), Master’s (+6 years), or Ph.D. (+2 years) in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a closely related field. Preference given to candidates with prior industry experience
• Hands-on experience with qPCR/dPCR, HPLC, CE, DLS, cell-based assays, or ELISA desired
• Previous experience with characterization of viral particles, RNA, and/or LNPs desired
• Experience in an Analytical Development or Quality Control group
• Excellent communication skills and ability to independently analyze, compile, and present experimental data in oral presentations and technical reports
• Good understanding of statistical concepts and working knowledge of software packages commonly used for data analysis and visualization (e.g. MS Excel, GraphPad, and JMP)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, data management, and organizational skills
