Job Description
Matchpoint is a biotechnology company harnessing the power of covalency to discover precision covalent medicines to transform the treatment of immune diseases and other serious illnesses. The company's proprietary Advanced Covalent Exploration (ACE) platform integrates advanced chemoproteomics, machine learning and covalent chemistry library evolution. Matchpoint has an emerging pipeline of novel covalent medicines initially focused on immunology.
Founded in 2021 by Atlas Venture and Access Biotechnology together with leading scientists from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Stanford, we are rapidly growing our team and looking for passionate, driven, and creative thinkers to join us in ushering in a new era of covalent medicines.
Position Summary
Matchpoint Therapeutics is looking for an exceptional scientist who can develop and integrate cutting-edge data science solutions in collaboration with other data scientists and data engineers. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic cross-functional collaborator. This person will work closely with colleagues from both the proteomics and the computational sciences teams to identify opportunities to apply data analytics and machine learning techniques to enhance Matchpointβs technology platform by contributing to both our chemoproteomics platform and our drug discovery pipeline. This is a unique opportunity to help build a computational technology platform in a drug discovery setting.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Work with the proteomics and biology teams to drive experimental design, data generation, analytics, and model development to analyze chemoproteomics data
- Contribute to the further enhancement of the data sciences platform and infrastructure (e.g., data architecture, data analysis, visualization, multi-parameter learning, multi objective optimization)
- Stay current with the latest developments in scientific data analytics and advanced machine learning approaches
- Pro-actively stay current with the literature, statistical techniques, and identify external datasets to put data analysis tools in place to improve data analysis techniques
Qualifications/ Year(s) of Experience / Education Requirements / Competencies
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree in computational chemistry, computational biology, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, or related computational sciences with >2 years of experience
- Experience building and validating classification and regression predictive models
- Comfortable using cheminformatics and data analytics applications such as RDKit, TIBCO Spotfire, and KNIME
- Programming and statistical analysis skills, including in Python and R
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D chemical structure analysis and representation is desirable
- You are a great communicator who enjoys working in a highly integrated, fast-moving cross-functional environment
- Expertise in a subset of open-source machine learning platforms, such as TensorFlow, Pytorch, Pandas, XGBoost, DeepChem or Scikit-Learn is highly desired
- Experience supporting and impacting drug discovery teams and especially covalent drug discovery programs is highly preferred
