Role Summary


Cerevel Therapeutics is seeking a talented synthetic organic chemist or engineer for a role in Process Development as a Senior Scientist, Process Development HTE. The Senior Scientist will apply and grow their expertise in small molecule drug substance process development as they contribute to Cerevel’s pursuit of its rich small molecule pipeline spanning pre-clinical through commercial candidates. This is a tremendous opportunity to apply and grow your skills in process development activities from the discovery chemistry interface (form selection and toxicology batch production) to preparation for commercial launch activities. Aided by and establishing leveraging Cerevel’s internal laboratory capabilities while managing external partners, the Sr. Scientist will develop scalable, cost-efficient, environmentally-sound synthetic processes for Cerevel’s novel candidates. Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting hands on activities for process development and optimization work in the lab to support small molecule drug substance for all phases of development
  • Conducting crystallization and physical/chemical property characterization of intermediates and drug substances
  • Hands on experiences on high throughput experimentation
  • Leading and contributing to scientific and technical discussions to support Cerevel pipeline
  • Authoring and process reports and transferring technical reports to external vendors
  • Partner with other functions such as analytical, drug product development and manufacturing, clinical supply, quality assurance, regulatory and external CMO to deliver on programs

Required Qualifications

  • Proven track record applying fundamental principle of chemical engineering to support internal and external development activities
  • Ability to prioritize and manage numerous activities simultaneously
  • Hands on experience on synthetic process development, optimization and scale up
  • Capable of working in a laboratory environment with chemical reagents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experiences with drug substance development and manufacturing
  • Experiences with CMO management and project management

Education

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry or chemical engineer with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant industrial experience
