Senior Scientist Product Development Ice Cream

The Senior Scientist Product Development is an important role within the North American Ice Cream R&D team. This role is responsible for the execution of regional innovation, value leadership (cost savings) and supply security projects as part of a team that will provide deep technical product and process understanding. The incumbent will be responsible for leading product development activities from concept to launch. This role includes translating consumer insights to scalable new products based on robust food science principles. In addition, the product development scientist provides maintenance of the existing portfolio, and champions quality and continuous improvement. The Associate in this role possess a high drive for results, excellent project management skills, a creative and entrepreneurial growth mindset, and an ability to create strong networks and relationships to drive quality growth.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.S. Degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or related technical field
• Minimum 5 year of industry experience
• Strong knowledge of food science fundamentals and application to the product development process.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities, with the ability to work effectively in cross functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or related technical field
• Combination of education and 8 to 10 years demonstrated success in relevant food product development
• Food product development or culinary industry experience
• Expertise in ice cream or other frozen desserts

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Responsible for leading projects to deliver regional ice cream innovation, value leadership, and supply security
• Develop and manage complex project timelines
• Appropriately assess risk and contingency plans
• Build effective cross functional working teams to drive projects to execution.
• Represents the technical functions to drive projects using strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
• Participation in cross-functional project teams to bring new innovations to market, ensuring delivery of the technical elements of the project
• Possess an understanding of ice cream recipes and ingredients for which they will be developing new products, as well as working knowledge of process technology
• Responsible for designing and leading product development activities and is accountable for the execution of the allocated programs and work streams to bring product innovation through to commercialization
• Ensures that the product development delivers profitable innovative designs for the brands and that they are designed to meet the brand KQA's.
• Ensures that the product specifications are as accurate as possible to ensure correct costing.
• Ensures that product quality and manufacturing quality performance measures standards and corrective actions are specified for each new and current product to ensure performance at the required level for all manufactured products
• Remains abreast of new developments in food technologies, packaging, design, category trends and related fields
• Connects with peers in other regions, other R&D functions and technical teams to share best practices, and accelerate the deployment of new innovations
