Responsibilities:
- Agile project leadership:
- Guide the Team on using scrum & agile practices and methodologies
- Facilitate transparency, inspection and adaptation
- Lead daily scrum, sprint review, and planning meetings in a way that ensures full team engagement
- Team leadership:
- Remove impediments (e.g., cultural barriers, logistic challenges)
- Foster close cooperation, self-organization and growth within the team
- Facilitate communication and collaboration inside and outside the team
- Ensure the team is fully functional and productive and shield them from external interference
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of punishment
- Supports the Product Owner:
- Support goal definition and backlog management, assist team in understanding need for clear and concise backlog items
- Aid in early identification and communication of risks and issues
- Facilitate stakeholder collaboration as needed or requested
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to coach team on agile practices and ensure adherence to agile methodology to deliver max business value on time
- Strong communication skills with ability to effectively deliver complex messages and teach new concepts
- Ability to quickly analyze and resolve conflicts - strong mediator
- Confident and skilled at navigating the team through roadblocks to allow committed work to be completed within the sprint
- Brings a high-energy and passionate outlook to the job and can influence those around her/him
- Able to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates a comfortable & effective workplace
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Ability to drive and effectively manage complex R&D initiatives beyond the scope of typical scrum master responsibilities
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in Agile software development, in a Scrum Master or similar role.
- Scrum Master certification preferred
- Experience with software development in a regulated field preferred
