The Job At-A-Glance:
The Security Engineering team works solely on projects. All of our work is based on the Agile methodology. We work in two week sprints lead by our Agile leader that we have weekly sessions to ensure what projects in our sprints can get completed in that sprint cycle. Projects are defined at the beginning of the year in planned quarterly in our Project Roadmap. We partner with our Security Architects to ensure that the design, build run method is followed. The Security Engineering team is in charge of building, deploying, configuring and the performance optimization of numerous security tools for the organization. Once the tool is in place, Security Engineering works hand in hand with Security Operations (SOC/SIRT) for the day-to-day operations, visibility and alerting of such tools.
A Typical Day:
Engineers day typically starts by going through and responding to direct email and team emails. Once emails are properly understood and responded to, members typically focus on the Projects/task slotted for that day according to what their individual sprint boards look like. The team tries to keep group meetings to a minimum and focus on small group collaborations and communications over Microsoft Teams for planning. Any and all communications for project work needs to have details notes in it’s perspective Jira ticket since that is the single source of record for our day-to-day work. Some work may require a change that should follow our Change Request process and have the necessary testing, validation and approvals for a change to take place. We do have an on-call rotation that lasts for seven days (Friday to Friday). When on-call, the Engineer is responsible for responding to all Major Incidents in a timely manner and address all service disruptions until the incident is deemed resolved.

We’re looking for someone who is a self-starter. Be accountable for the work that you do. We want someone who takes the initiative to not only look for areas of improvement but come up with a plan to address those areas. Having a leader’s mentality is extremely important, but effective leaders are always great team players. There’s always work that needs to be done. Capitalize on moments when you have slow days and ask your peers what you can do to assist them or be proactive by looking for the next area that could turn into a security risk.​
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 12 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 8+ years of experience; or equivalent related work experience.
Linux or Windows System Administration experience
Automation and scripting via PowerShell, Python, Perl, or Bash
Configuration management (Ansible, Chef, and/or Puppet)
Implemented Security solutions in public clouds (AWS, Azure, and/or Google)
The ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
The ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, clearly expressing ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing
The natural ability to lead and influence without direct authority
A calm, diplomatic demeanor and a cooperative nature even in stressful situations
Super high attention to detail and exceptional follow-through skills
And above all, a great sense of humor
