About the Department
Security at Cloudflare is a focused team committed to helping secure both Cloudflare and our customers. The Detection and Response team is responsible for detecting threats and responding to security incidents across the organization.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Detection Engineer to join our Detection and Response team. The role is a Senior position, coming in with years of real world experience in identifying threats and translating them into actionable detections, developing playbooks, and continually striving to improve our detections and visibility. The successful candidate will help define and execute strategy for threat detection and incident response. You will perform threat modeling of complex systems and infrastructure, build detections based on indicators observed during incident response and SOAR (security orchestration, automation and response) workflows to detect and respond to security threats.
As a part of a larger Security organization, you will be working with across-functional teams, such as Product, Engineering, IT and Security to influence and develop security products and practices.
Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in leading tier 2 or tier 3 Incident Response in production and corporate environments
• Expertise in a broad range of security technologies such as EDR, network security, IAM, Zero Trust, public cloud security, etc.
• Proficient in security monitoring, and building actionable alerts from large datasets to automate Incident detection and response process.
• Experience "threat hunting," i.e. using threat intel to proactively and iteratively investigate potential risks and finding suspicious behavior in the network.
• Knowledge of attacker methodologies and techniques.
• Proficient in programming in Python and/or Golang.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in malware reverse engineering
• Experience building detections on Linux systems using auditd, osquery etc.
• Experience with securing a modern tech infrastructure stack using containers, distributed databases, message brokers, private and public cloud infrastructure etc.
• Familiarity with disk forensics using tools and libraries like LiME, Encase, Recon, etc.
